We're planning a number of really cool musical events over at H.I. New York Performance Hall, as well as another taping of the new video project "What's Behind the Song?" (More about that really soon.)

AND... as promised, there's a brand new installment of the podcast "Where's the Voice" here today. (A little further down the page.)

It's a new week. But over the summer-like weekend here in NYC I fielded about a million emails about WHEN I'm heading out to Central Park for another season of being "That Guitar Man".

Damn! It's such a cool thing, and this would be the 17th summer!

Gotta tell you. Back in January, I submitted and paid for the applications for all the Special Events permits this year. The first date set was Saturday, May 3. As of yet, I haven't received any word or paperwork from the people in the Parks Department, and I can't even go to the NYPD for the necessary Sound Device Permits until I have those others in hand. (Personally, I'm staying one step ahead of a shaky feeling about how they're gonna handle us this year. I'm afraid the thinking is to arbitrarily reduce the number of days we get to share music and laughs out there on "The Hill".)

We'll see how that all plays out, hah?

Y'know, Barack Obama keeps talkin' about change, and all the other candidates are following suit and talking about change. I think one reason may be that change is about all most of ordinary people have left! (Okay... yeah, at times I get weary of being poor. But, y'know what!? I wouldn't trade places with another human being on the face of the earth. I love my life and I love music... and, I love the company! Thanks for being here!)

Well... welcome to the website for another day. Besides the original podcast about music and the people who love music (I Love the Company) there's a brand new installment of the more politically-minded and socially-conscious podcast, "Where's the Voice" here today!

Damn! I know there are people reading this in different parts of the country and different parts of the world, but yesterday here in New York City, the temperature was well over 70 degrees. Hopefully, it won't be long until we're all out in Central Park for the 17th summer at what has become known as - "The Hill".

(That is, if the people in the permit office don't create problems for us this year!)

Hey, coupla things!

First, I wanna say again THANKS to every single person who's helping out with this year's PERMIT FUND. (Actually, by donating something to the permit fun, you help support everything that goes on around here - this website, the podcasts, the concerts, all of these projects.)

I love doing what I do. I love my life and I love writing songs and sharing them with all of you. I'm a very lucky man.

I'll be letting you know very soon about the next concert in the newest music hall on the Upper West Side of Manhattan - H.I. New York Performance Hall. My last concert with guest artists Christine Lavin and Galia Arad was a sold out success and we're itchin' to do the next in a few weeks.... maybe on the outdoor lawn!!!

One thing that's kinda cool.

I have a good friend.

His name is Sid.

Now, Sid will be out in Central Park and over at H.I.N.Y. every chance he gets this year.

Well, Sid is living an amazing life. Seriously. He's done so much to make this world a better place it's just amazing and he keeps dreaming new dreams. (That's one reason he wanted to put his name on this new concert series at H.I. New York Performance Hall.)

But, for the few of you who don't know... Sid changed American music history forever when he introduced The Beatles to America.

Besides that, he brought The Rolling Stones here... ABBA... countless others. He also played such a huge and underrated role in breaking the racial barriers down in this country by being the first promoter to book white and black acts on the same rock 'n roll bill. (He also made James Brown the very first rock n soul act in Madison Square Garden.) He discovered and managed The Rascals. He's also been humbly on the front lines of political activism from the rise of the Nazis, to the current corruption of the American government, from the civil rights movement to the recent assault on The Constitution... he speaks with presidential candidates and people who have no voice. And he has always spoken out where and when there's been a need. Over his lifetime, he's been some amazing places with some amazing people. (Anyway... you just hafta read his book.)

So, Sid has been a promoter, a producer, a manager, an activist for Truth and Reason... he's been immersed in the music business his whole, long life. But he's never played one note and... he's never written a song.

Until now.

In the warm summer months, I get to be "That Guitar Man from Central Park".

Then in the winter I get to move it all indoors right around this time of year for an annual tradition called "The Year-End Concert". Yeah...it's annual, and it's a tradition. But, for the life of me I can't remember how many of these we've done. So, now it's the something-th annual...

My name is David Ippolito. I am a fiercely independent man and artist who lives and works out of New York City.

This is the pilot episode of a brand new spin-off podcast from "I Love the Company"

This show used to be a once-a-week segment of ILTC that ran it's course, but listeners really wanted it to come back.

So here it is.

It is a show dedicated to finding the singer/songwriters, poets, artists who have the inspiration, the conscience and the balls to do work that not only reflects what is going on in the world around us, but also dares to affect the world in some small yet sometimes significant way.
