Wow, what a year it's been, junkies. Podcasting has brought me so many great opportunities, and I've made some great friends. I can't wait to see what the New Year has in store!

I do need your help though. This show takes a lot of time and energy to prepare - TOO much time and energy, and I need to back off a bit. I either need to cut the show in half and only feature two podcasts a week, or change it to an all-music show with an occasional featured podcast when I come across something to pass along to you. I need your feedback though - I really want your thoughts on this. Maybe you have something I haven't thought of - please pass it along! This week I say goodbye to Soul Brother Number One, James Brown, and play his song Gut Bucket. Then I play some of the artists that have been such great supporters of this show - Josh Woodward, David Ippolito, my brother from another mother Phil Ayoub, Lee Alexander, and Pete Scafidi. Then we have a rousing sing-along to Auld Lang Syne, piano by Mario Ajero, and THE Howard Jones gets us out of here with the perfect New Year's song, Building Our Own Future - a real song of hope if there ever was one. Please show these artists your support by buying their music. This lets them know that you appreciate what they do and encourages them to make more great music - I wouldn't have a show without them.

My oldest two, Tazmin and Tosca, get things started for us - Happy Birthday, TAZ! New background music by Enigma, now on the PMN! I lambast the RIAA for wanting to reduce the royalties it pays to artists and publishers - idiots! Then I play a kickin' song, Game of Life, by Chosen By Force. Our first podcast is Learn Poker from the Pros, followed by The Director's Cut. Local SLC, UT artist Ryan Boud takes us through the halfway point with a great song, Invisible Monsters. Next is No Holds Barred, then an awesome combination of PodNovel and music show, Dismay. Black Furies get us out of here with Murder City Shakedown. All three songs featured this week come from Dismay. And yes, that IS me on the album art!

Our first podcast is Food Philosophy, then KarmKast. Karmyn Tyler's song I'll Be There On Christmas Day. Next up is a podcast by one of my favorite authors, the Dean Koontz Podcast, then Extremepods. Phil Ayoub sent me a disc of demos and B sides, along with the cd from his earlier band, Riverside Train. I play the demo of White Feather to start things out, then talk about the Shopping Cart theory. The first podcast is Grammar Girl's Quick and Dirty Tips, then I play Eyes Do Lie by Sex And Patriotism to make up for slaughtering their name last week. Yeah, it's such a chore playing music by a group this good. Next up is Eric Hour, followed by my friend Randall's show, The Loser's Cult. I try to remember everyone who contributed to the opening bit and fail miserably, then Riverside Train gets us out of here with Like A Cowboy. By the way, check out Episode 9 of the Junkie where I interview Phil Ayoub. Such a great guy, and a great interview subject. The first 30 minutes are a bit hard to listen to due to recording glitches, but things get much better after that.

Oh man. Was I excited when I saw Thomas Dolby up on the PMN (he has a podcast too!). Europa and the Pirate Twins kicks us off. Our first two podcasts are Podcast for Teachers and The Mickey Room. I play a promo for Mark Yoshimoto Nemcoff's Number One With A Bullet, another one for Brother Love's Monday Night Football party, then play BroLo's Summertime. Next up is Geek Counterpoint, then demons are in my colon on Mental Escher. Goat gets us out of here with Great Life, then I record IDs for the podcasts featured this week. I'll fix that by next week. First up is Out Here On The Road, followed by Americana Roots. I play Phil Ayoub's Believe, talk about him a bit, then our last two podcasts are Effective Website Secrets and one of the funniest podcasts I've listened to, The Brothers Green. Lee Alexander sent me a great ID. Please take the time to vote for him on the Musician's Atlas website, where he's up for an award in the Social Actions category. He deserves it! Lee's friend, Pete Scafidi, gets things going with a great song, Some Days. I do some housekeeping, then feature the OPAL podcast - for libraries and those who use them. Next up is The Premiership Podcast, the first UK football podcast. The Samples take us across the halfway point with Weight of the World, then we look at Copcast, a very fun and moving podcast. I break tradition by using the final segment to rant a bit as I talk about the Military Commissions Act, and how it violates the very principle upon which this country was founded. It also includes a very scary proviso that grants pardons to the president and his cabinet for any war crimes they may have committed as defined by The War Crimes Act of 1996. My friend Eli Renner starts us off with a VERY cool ID. Still don't know if I like the new intro or not - what do you think? Jode Bonney's Karma Bites gets things going on an all-Halloween show. Shout-outs to the Loser's Cult podcast (Did I say Loser's Club? Can't remember).

The first podcast is 13 Omens, hosted by Laura Sardisco, then it's on to The Horror Podcast, all about horror movies. Jonathan Coulton's Re: Your Brains takes us through the midway point, then it's on to Haunted New Jersey with Garrett and Brent. Pseudopod, a great show of horror short stories finishes things. Honorable Halloween mentions go out to Scott Sigler's The Rookie, J. C. Hutchins' 7th Son, and The Podcast From Yesteryear, which features Orson Welles' War of the Worlds broadcast. Got an awesome ID from Lyndon of 3 Blind Mice, so I play their song, Watchstar. Incredible harmonies on this one. Our first podcast is The Campfire, hosted by Jake - a cool audio blog. Next up is an irreverent look at food on Gastrologica. I go out of character and play a dance track from Simply MC called Chaotic.

Next up is Inside Home Recording, a great podcast aimed mostly at musicians, but has some great info for podcasters as well. To finish up things, we look at I Love The Company, hosted by David Ippolito. I take a dig at Jersey Todd, then end the trainwreck with David's great song, This Hill is Filled with Children. I got an email from Mark Yoshimoto Nemcoff, and there was this ID from one of the stars of Shadow Falls, Jeff Hohimer, who plays Jakob Faire. How cool is that? The show is growing, and I give a shout-out to two new listeners, including Karmyn Tyler's mom Suzie, and I play a clip of Karmyn Tyler - more of her very soon.

I start off the show by forgetting to play a song, and jump right in with Like Nobody's Business and The Rules. I catch my mistake and play DNA, by Jonathan Coulton. The final installment of Thing A Week goes up today, and I'm bummed. You can buy the first two TAW CDs at CDBaby for just $10 each. Do it now! I play a promo for the Jersey Toddshow, an ID from my daughter, and wish two of my daughters happy birthday. Man I'm old!

We then move into Babelcast, programmed by Christopher Ariza. Wow - double digits! Whoda thunk? Anne Farnsworth /'s song, Evansessence
is now the official background music for The Podcast Junkie. I
got so many compliments on it when I used it a few weeks ago - a total
no-brainer, which is a good thing for me.

I start off the whole mess with a Polish artist - Piotr Banaszek and his song, Prognoza Na Wczoraj. And no, I don/'t even try to pronounce it! I give overviews of Ask A Bahai ( Call 1-800-22UNITE or click on the phone number for more information) and The Civil Air Patrol Today . Most of the information for this segment came from the Wikipedia .

Next up is a Podosphere Premier song by Houston artist Lee Alexander - On The Downside , from his CD, Out Of Place .
You/'re going to hear a lot from this guy! I/'ve been helping him

My Trivia Podcast
was a last-minute substitution that has been on my short list for a
while. Glad I finally got a chance to use it. The last

Rock god Alice Cooper starts off the show with No More Mr. Nice Guy!

I define what I mean by Family-Friendly and Work Safe, then look at AST Radio and Poddog. My friend Eli Renner, host of WTF-WJD entertains the masses with a great song, I'm Gonna Live Forever. Announcer Todd does a remote covering the President leaving SLC, then I do my take on Beyond The Box Office, and try something new with my final feature, Choose The Left XX's, a most unusual CoupleCast. Jonathan Coulton takes us out Bluegrass style (I'm playing this one especially for my good friends Minerals44) with a great song, Just As Long As Me. Hopefully the interview will go down this coming week.

Also got my cd from Josh Woodward today - Only Whispering. AWESOME stuff! Actually, I got two copies (it was a buy one get one deal), so I'm going to be giving away the other copy next week.
