* Jay Z Barclays Center - The crack dealer turned rap mogul opened the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The opening was also the start to an eight date concert series. Mr. Carter also unveiled the new Brooklyn Nets Jersey. Several celebrities attended the concert. Big Daddy Kane joined Jay Z on the opening.

* T-Boz's Reality Show Totally T-Boz - One third of the group TLC, Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins landed a new reality series. The show will follow her singing career and her life as a single mother. T-Boz was married to Mack 10 whom did not pay $250k in child support bills. The new reality show will air on TLC early 2013. 

* Faith Evans - R&B Divas: Faith Evans - The songstress has decided to donate all proceeds of the album to the Whitney Houston Academy. The album will feature several duets with her fellow reality show castmates.

Too $hort Cast for Couples Therapy - Oakland native and hip hops dirtiest rapper, Too $hort, will be on the new show for VH1. The show "Couples Therapy" will examine the complicated relationships between several celebrities. $hort Dog and Monica Payne will be featured and you can catch the premiere October 3rd 10pm on VH1.

* Twista - Reloaded [Mixtape] - Don Cannon presents Reloaded featuring guest Juicy J, Shawnna, Ab-Soul and more. 

* Beanie Sigel Yet Again - Beans was arrested Wednesday morning when State Troopers found a pistol in the cars center console. Sigel was riding shotgun when the Troopers also found a bottle of codeine and several prescription pills. Both Sigel and his driver Gerald Andrews are convicted felons and are not permitted to carry any guns. They were processed and arraigned at the Pennsylvania State Police barracks.

* New Lawsuit From Chris Brown & Drake Brawl - A bystander, Howard Clement has filed a suit against W.i.P. for his injuries during the scuffle. Clement is suffering from lacerations, migraines and lack of sleep. This is the third lawsuit in the past month and a representative from the club said, "We will fully evaluate the claim once we receive formal notice."

Beanie Sigel - This Time - Weeks before his scheduled two year prison bid, Beans releases his Ruffhouse Records debut and fifth solo album. 

E-40 & Too $hort Banned from Mountain View "Rock The Bells" - During an interview with Fuse, 40 Water informed the public that they would not be making a Bay Area appearance due to the city of Mountain View, Ca. 40 says, "They can't even give us an excuse or nothing. They can't say nothing. They don't even know why they won't let us perform. I'm putting it on that the city of Mountain View won't let Too Short and E-40 perform. Anyway, they don't want us performing on our own soil, man."

Hieroglyphics Crew Announce First Annual Hiero Day - Hiero Day will be a music festival featuring vendors, food trucks, a skate area and performances. Blackalicious, Planet Asia, Moe Green and others have been confirmed. Tajai, CEO of Hiero Imperium says,  “And since we’re from a city that has spawned several progressive movement and style, we want to show our pride and recognize these accomplishments as well as look towards the future by embracing the youth and engaging them with positivity." "It’s time to give back.”

Bobby Brown Checks Into Rehab - The New Edition singer was arrested earlier this year for using his cellphone while driving and driving under the influence. In a deal with California, Brown agreed to enter himself into rehab. Bobby's wife and manager says, "Bobby's children and loved ones are very proud of him. We appreciate his fans prayers and well wishes. Bobby is mentally in a god place."

Rihanna Cries Over Chris Brown - In an interview with Oprah, RiRi opens up about the dreaded incident and cries. She said it was "embarrassing" and "humiliating… I lost my best friend." Oprah adds, " thought she would have been kind of a bad-ass kind of a rocker hard-edge woman. Nothing could have been farther from the truth, She was thoughtful. She was very emotional. Ice-T Goes at it with Rush Limbaugh - In the wake of Aurora, Colorado's tragedy the hip hop icon tweeted his support to bear arms. The conservative right wing dickhead mocked Ice-T by saying "He knew the word 'tyranny', and he knows that tyranny comes from government representatives. Double impressive." T retweets "[he's] a racist piece of shit,"…"Before you challenge me do your research. I've lectured at Stanford, Princeton & Harvard to name a few... I just might be smarter than YOU!"

Mary J. Blige Joins The Voice Season 3 - The Queen of R&B will be an adviser for judge Adam Levine. He says “I’ve always been a huge fan of Mary J. Blige so it’s been great having her on The Voice.” The Voice premieres Monday September 10th on NBC.

Nas - Life Is Good - This will be Nas' 10th and final studio album under Def Jam records. Features include Mary J. Blige, Large Professor, the late Amy Winehouse and more.

Masta Ace - MA DOOM: Son Of Yvonne - Masta Ace joins forces with MF Doom for Son of Yvonne, a highly personal concept album that celebrates the life and legacy of Ace's recently departed Mother.

Lord Finesse Suing Mac Miller - The hip hop OG is filing a lawsuit against the rapper over unauthorized use of the instrumental track "Hip 2 Da Game." Finesse says the teen rapper basically blew up off of his hard work. The two tried to hash things out via a phone call but to no resolution; Finesse says he's still going through with the lawsuit.

Spike Lee Working on Michael Jackson Doc - This year marks the 25th anniversary for the "Bad" album. A re-release of the album is set for September 18th with tons of bonus material. Spike Lee, MJ's personal friend, isd working on a documentary film about the album which is due out later this year. Lee learned a lot about the King of Pop while sifting through footage and says it's a "treasure chest of findings."

Beats by Dre acquires MOG - The streaming music service will now be part of the Beats Electronics company. Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine founded Beats in 2006 and sold to HTC in 2011 for $300 million. CEO of Beats Luke Wood says: "A music delivery service connected with Beats products completes an audio connection." 

Lauren Hill Faces Jail Time - The Fugee's dopest lyricist just pleaded guilty to three counts of failure to tax returns from 2005 - 2007. She "intentionally and willingly" failed to report income of more that $1.8 million. She will be facing 3 years in jail when she is sentenced in November.

50 Cent - Five (Murder By Numbers) - The Queens rapper is releasing his 5th studio album. 50 says the much delayed album was due to Interscope. 

Childish Gambino - Royalty (Mixtape) - The rapper says that Royalty is rider music; more bass. Features include, Paul Wall, RZA, Bun B and more. 

Tupac Hologram Wins Award - The Coachella debuted hologram was recently recognized with a prestigious Cannes Lions Titanium Award. Digital Domain Media Group accepted the award and says, "We were thrilled to be part of this project, this completely new idea in entertainment". 

50 Cent Injured in Car Accident - 50's SUV was rear-ended by a Mack Truck in Queens earlier this week. Both drivers were rushed to the hospital for evaluations. A close source to 50 said that he and the truck driver are fine after being released from the hospital. 

R. Kelly - Write Me Back | The Trapped In The Closet artist is releasing a 12 track standard and 16 track deluxe album including many party jam singles. 

DMX - Undisputed | The Ruff Ryder is releasing his 7th studio comeback album. Features include Swizz Beatz, Eve, Busta Rhymes, Tyrese and Jennifer Hudson.

Flavor Flav Avoids Jail Time - The Public Enemy hype man owed his baby mama over $100k in child support. He was looking to serve 180 days due to his delinquency but finally paid a lump sum. The court clerk said Flav "took care" of his obligations with Angie Parker.

Rodney King Dead At 47 - Victim of a 1991 LAPD beat down passed away on Sunday. His fiance found his body at the bottom of their pool and quickly called the police. Investigators conducted an autopsy on his body on Monday and say results from toxicology tests could take as long as six weeks to make an official determination. 

BeBe Winans - America America | This will be the 7th studio album for the R&B/Gospel singer. The album includes all-American classics as well as 3 new songs. 

Chris Brown - Fortune | After several delays, Fortune is releasing June 19th. Features include Nas, Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa and of course Rihanna. 

Drake & Chris Brown Involved in Brawl in NY - Bottles were thrown in a Manhattan nightclub between Drake and Chris Brown camps. The fight started when Chris Brown sent a bottle over to Drake, they exchanged words and supposedly started arguing over Rihanna. Meek Mill may have instigated the fight but claims "it wasn't me." No arrests were made.

Kanye West's LA Mansion Burglarized - TMZ reports that a 911 call was made from the mansion regarding the break in. The thieves were gone by the time police arrived but left a trail of Kanye's belongings. Yeezy was currently in Birmingham, England on tour.

Eric Benet - The One  -  The Grammy nominated singer will be releasing his 6th studio album. This will be Benet's contemporary approach to old school songwriting. Features to include Lil Wayne and more. 

Bobby Brown - The Masterpiece  -  The New Edition singer is releasing his first solo album in 14 years. Brown says, "I simply wanted to create a body of work that will take listeners on a musical journey…".

Nude pics of Badu! Nayrok Badu that is; Erykah's little sister. The Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne blasted the pics into the twitterverse but Erykah was quick to clarify that it was not her but her lil sis. Nayrok Udab is quickly making a name for herself in Texas and is expected to drop an album this year. 

Big Boi's forthcoming album, "Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors". One half of legendary hip hop duo Outkast has release the title to his latest album. He goes on to say that it's 80% complete and has features from Big KRIT, Kid Cudi and others. Rumors of 3 Stacks releasing an album shortly after Big Boi this year.

Travis Porter - From Day 1 - Anticipation for the full length album is high after a string of hits like "Bring it Back," "Make it Rain" and Ayy Ladies."

Azealia Banks - 1991 EP - The young up and comer is finally releasing 1991 after much delay. The Harlem, NY rapper / singer is signed to Interscope/Polydor. The digital EP is out the 29th, the physical copies will be out June 12th. 

* Beenie Man in Support of Gay Rights - More artist are in support of Obama's stance on gay marriage. Jay Z, TI, Kendrick Lamar and now the controversial reggae artist, Beenie Man. His 1992 song, Boom Bye Bye he advocated violence against homosexuals. 20 years wiser and with a grander world view, this is what Beenie Man has to say: "Now I know that people live in the world that live their life differently from my life. I still have to respect another human."

* D'Angelo working on new album - In a recent interview with GQ, D'Angelo discusses his rise to fame, being a sexual icon, his decent into addiction and is come back after a dozen years. He also made it back onto stage with packed ecstatic house. His album is slated for September of 2012.

* El-P - Cancer For Cure | This will be his 5th solo album to date. He describes the creative process as being something like a hermit, disappearing from the world so that he can best convey his vision. He speaks on collab work by saying, "I collaborate with people who are around me and who I like, but if it doesn't fit, I won't do it."

* David Banner - Sex, Drugs & Video Games | The rapper is releasing a "free" album but is asking only $1 donations to support the project and movement. The 2M1 Movement is an attempt to show the world urban music is valuable and for artist to fully control their own work. A portion of the earnings will go to charity and a movie to drop next year. 

* Jay-Z Supports Obama's Stance of Gay Marriage - The longtime supporter spoke about Obama's stance on gay marriage saying, "It's no different than discriminating against blacks. It's discrimination plain and simple." When asked about Obama votes, this is what he had to say.

* Big Boi Talks New Solo Album - One half of legendary Outkast discusses new solo album titled, Daddy Fat Sax: Soul Funk Crusader. Big Boi says the album will be an eclectic mix of genres blended with hip hop. He goes on to say, "Every different genre of music will be used. Hip hop is the least thing I listen to right now. I've been listening to lots of folk, bluegrass and rock." 

* 50 Cent - Gangsta Grillz The Lost Tape (Mixtape) | 50 announced a mixture during his visit with Bootleg Kev in Vegas. He also discussed his friendship with Mayweather, Lloyd Banks and his other business ventures.

* DMX - The Weigh In (Free EP) | X is dropping the 10-track EP as a teaser for his comeback album Undisputed set for June 26th. The EP will feature Snoop, Lil Weezy, Tyrese and others. 

* Beastie Boys Being Sued for Tracks - Tuf America filed a lawsuit against the Beastie Boys on May 3rd, one day before MCA passed a way from cancer. The crew is accused of using portions of Trouble Funk's songs "Say What" and Drop The Bomb" on Licensed to Ill and Paul's Boutique. Tuf America is seeking trial for punitive and exemplary damages.

* Rick Ross and Meek Mill Perform at Charity Concert in Atlantic City - Proceeds will benefit Team Hope, a charity to help impoverished families in New Jersey. Ricky Rozay teamed up with Lenny "The Barber" Hansen to produce the event and this is what he had to say: "Our objective is to inject a sense of hope into the Hip-Hop community…"

* Tank - This Is How I Feel | The R&B veteran has released preview snippets of the album. His fifth studio album has been dubbed "Couples Retreat" music aka babymakinmuzik! Features include Danja, Mario Winans, T.I. and Chris Brown. 

* Pitbull - Original Hits | The Miami MC is getting the best of treatment with Original Hits. The collection will include "Culo" and "Shake". Features include Lil Jon, LIl Flip, Ying Yang Twinz and Fat Joe. 

* Wiz Khalifa cited for weed possession again! After being caught last week for weed possession Wiz has a repeat performance in just within 10 days! After a concert in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, police recovered 11.39 grams of that sticky icky during a search on his tour bus. Fortunately, both times he was just cited and release with future court dates. 

* India.Arie settles lawsuit with former manager. Norren Nalli, former manager of Arie sued the songstress for money owed. India.Arie came back with a counter suit claiming she overpaid Nalli. Both claims have now been dismissed for an undisclosed amount of money. India.Arie is set to release her forthcoming album 'Open Door' in the fall. 

B.o.B. - Strange Clouds | Bobby Ray is releasing his sophomore album with a deluxe version strictly for Target. Features include Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, T.I. and Morgan Freeman.

Yuna - Yuna | This album released last week but I somehow missed it! Malaysian singer songwriter was discovered by Pharrell of NERD and now signed to Fader Label. You might have seen her recently on Conan performing "Live Your Life." You can catch her rocking the stage at Lollapalooza in August 3-5 2012 in Grant Park, Chicago.

Mac Dre's Thizz Ent. Implicated in Ecstasy Ring - According to Allhiphop.com 25 people associated with Thizz Ent. were arrested for being involved in a nationwide ecstasy ring. Police seized 45,000 ex-pills, 4 lbs of crack, 1/2 lbs of heroin, 230 acres of weed and $200k in cash. Police say 9 members are still on the run while those arrested will be in court May 4th.

J Dilla's Record Collection Up for Sale. Jeff Brubeck, proprietor of record store UHF is acquired 7-8,000 pieces of vinyl from an abandoned storage. Brubeck says he'd like to give some of the proceeds to the J Dilla Foundation and tried to reach out to Stones Throw, the Foundation and Maureen Yancey but claims they have not contacted him back. 

Ashanti - Braveheart - Former Murder Inc. songstress is releasing her fifth album, Braveheart on her own label, Written Entertainment. The singer says she was inspired by the 1995 Mel Gibson movie. Ashanti says, "Breaveheart, It's a great Metaphor."

Chuuwee - Crown Me King - The Sacramento MC is releasing his mixtape Crown Me King. Following his free download release is his album, Wild Style, which is set to drop May 29th.

Drake Holds Emerging Artist Contest. Drake is giving an up and coming MC a chance to open for his "Club Paradise" 27 city tour. The contest is in association with OurStage.com and Real Hip Hop Network. OurStage.com started accepting entries April 16 and will end on the 30th.

 Master P's Kids Cymphonique and Romeo Hold Charity Event. Some lucky teens received bikes, toys, clothing and even book scholarships for college at the "Always Dream Big Event." 'Nique and Romeo said that education has always been stressed in the Miller household. Poppa P said, "The Always Dream Big campaign inspires kids to dream big by making college a reality."

Scott Storch being sued due to drug addiction! The producer is being sued by singer Teena Ruberg who claims Storch botched a production deal. Ruberg's lawyers say Storch is "incapable of producing any records." TMZ.com says Ruberg paid Storch a total of $45k of which she paid $30k up front.

This is Nicki Minaj's second studio album to date. Despite being leaked almost a week before, it's still anticipated to make a pretty penny. Features include Rick Ross, Cam'ron, Nas, Drake and Young Jeezy. 

Drake Kicked Out of Party! Drizzy was kicked out of the Dollhouse Lounge after the owner smelled weed from his VIP section. The owner claims the Oklahoma police soon arrived, arrested and cited her for a half-burnt blunt found in Drakes section. Now the owner wants Drake to pay several thousands of dollars for her troubles. Good luck with that. 

Blood Sucking Vampires Out to Get Nas! According to TMZ, the IRS is seeking to garnish Nas' publishing income for his $6 million delinquent tax bill. The government is going to ASCAP and BMI, the tow largest performing rights orgs. Making matters worse, the IRS has put a lien on Nas' property in Eagles Landing, Georgia.

Macy Gray is releasing Covered under the newly signed 429 Records. The album is a collection of reinterpreted songs mainly drawn from indie rock. Also in the album are short skits with appearances by JB Smoove, Nicole Scherzinger and Idris Elba.

*Gift of Gab -  The Next Logical Progression

One half of rap duo Blackalicious, Gift of Gab is releasing his third solo album. Features include Nappy Roots, J-Live, Big Boi and others. The album promises a positive vibe with real stories laid down on melodic tracks. 

The Brooklyn trio will be inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame by Chuck D of Public Enemy. They have released eight studio albums, nominated for 10 Grammy's, three of which they've won. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony will air on May 5th at 9pm only on HBO.

Dr. Dre To Produce a Horror Flick

According to Variety magazine, the west coast gangsta rap pioneer is set to co-produce the horror film, "Thaw" for Crucial Films. The film is about an "ancient evil that emerges from the rapidly melting ice in the Yukon." Dre announced a deal in 2007 to team up with New Line Cinema's Crucial Films to produce a series of films and "Thaw" is the first project under that contract. There is no projected date of completion but you can look forward to his new album Detox!

R. Kelly Still Trapped in the Closet

TMZ reports that R. Kelly has written yet another 32 new chapters to the popular "Trapped in the Closet" hip hopera series. The series promises to bring back all your favorites like Pimp Lucius, Rosie the Nosy Neighbor and of course the Midget. 

This is the second album for the soulstress. The title for the album was a deliberate attempt at word play that she felt represented both aspects of life; The Might Fine Life and the Mother F*ckin Life. Ms. Fiona says, "I'd feel dishonest if everything was all about glitz and glamour. It's about the balance of life, the yin and the yang, the good and the bad, all of that." 

* Sizzla - In Gambia

In Gambia was created from a well received trip to the West African nation in 2008. Most of the tracks were recorded there by Ras Murphy and Richard 'Breadback' Bramwell. The album strikes the organic/synthetic balance of hip hop and dancehall sounds. 

* Diggy - Unexpected Arrival

Son of Rev. Run from the legendary hip hop group Run DMC is releasing his debut album. While his name got his foot in the door, the album proves that he's taking the work seriously and will make a name for himself in the music industry. 

Flavor Flav Opens Restaurant. The Hype man of the legendary group Public Enemy and reality TV star is opening a take out restaurant in Vegas called "House of Flavor". The restaurant is not associated with his other venture, Flav's Fried Chicken. Flav says, "I'm on the road doing shows with PE but I'm going to be there as much as I can."

 Lil Wayne Building a Skate Park in New Orleans. Weezy is partnering with Mountain Dew and Blueprint Group to build the park. The new partnership will be titled "DEWeezy." More details will be announced at SXSW.

BDP - South Bronx Teachings // This is a collection of tracks that eventually formed the classic, Criminal Minded. This limited package also features uber rare unpublished photographs of KRS with Scott taken by Janette Bekman but never used in the original The Man and His Music packaging. 

Yah Meek - Sojourner // Yah Meek is working on his third solo album, which will be titled “SOJOURNER.” Yah Meek worked with various artists including Anthony Locks, Shocking Murray and Jennifer Washington, Uwe Banton and Singing U. Yah Meek takes the listeners of Sojourner to a musical journey.

Ice Cube Prepping for NWA biopic. Cube says "I'm producing it and I'm doing most of the heavy lifting but those guys have definitely participated in the interview process..and script…" There are no projected dates yet but you can catch Cube in the remake of 21 Jump Street on March 16th. 

E-40 drop 3 albums this month! The Bay Area pillar is about to drop The Block Brochure and Welcome to the Soil 1, 2 and 3. The albums feature Raheem DeVaughn, Snoop, Kendrick Lamar, Katt Williams, Too $hort and many others. 40 says, “…For the past two years they thought it was crazy for me to release two albums at the same time… Again, I proved them wrong.”

The Alchemist - Rappers Best Friend 2 // The LA producer releases his second edition of the instrumental series. Accompanying the release is a contest inviting rappers to win a produced track by the Alc himself. All you have to do is download the track, write your rap and shoot a video to post on YouTube. From there the Alchemist will choose a winner for an official single. 

Chaundon - The Jammington // The rapper has already release the cover art and tracklist to his upcoming project. Features include Skillz the DJ, Von Pea, Craig G and many more. 

Dr. Cornel West and Boots Riley of The Coup joined "Occupy" protest in NY. Thousands gathered to protest Mayor Bloomberg's policy to forcibly evict Occupy protestors. Travis Morales, the organizer of the rally claims the press lied about violence, drugs and filth to justify the police brutality. Others in attendance were Rev. Stephen Phelps, Scott Olsen, the Iraqi vet shot by Oakland Police and Noam Chomsky via satellite. 

Jay-Z and Kanye auctioning off Maybach from "Otis" video for charity. The customized 2004 Maybach 57 is valued at $100-$150k and will be on auction till March 7. The proceeds will go to Save The Children, the leading organization changing the lives of chidden around the world.

Robert Glasper Experiment - Black Radio - This is the first full-length album from the keyboardist band, Experiment. It transcends genre and has special guests like Erykah Badu, Mos Def, Meshell Ndegeocello and Stokley Williams to name a few. The Experiment band is saxist Casey Benjamin, bassist Derrick Hodge, drummer Chris Dave and of course Robert Glasper on keys. 

Academy Award-winning director Kevin MacDonald debuts his documentary, Marley at SXSW. Out of many docs, this is the first film to get the Marley family's full support. The film promises to contain unheard tracks and never before seen footage. Marley hits theaters April 20th. 

Nas, Common and Q-Tip rumored to form super group The Standard. Tip and Com talked about teaming up back in 2007 but project has surfaced since then. According to NYDN, when asked if Nas had plans to record with the two Nas responded, "Definitely," further fueling the rumor.

2. Storm Saulter, the hottest filmmaker in the Caribbean debued his feature film Better Mus' Come at the Lincoln Center for its NYC premiere. The film is a recreation of the infamous Green Bay Massacre of 1978;  it’s the first authentic period piece to bring Jamaica’s sensitive history to life on the big screen. 3. The Legendary Roots Crew will perform at the charity concert party, "Let's Move it Philly!". The organization GrassROOTS was co-founded by Black Thought and sociologist, Dr. Janice Johnson Dias. Proceeds will benefit C.H.I.C.K.S. (Creating Healthy Informed Confident Knowledgeable Selves), an after school program created by the Foundation for girls at Philadelphia’s Harding Middle School that focuses on health literacy, wellness, and professional skills.
