Our first film reviewed this week is 2000’s Baise Moi. This is the story of Nadine (played by Karen Lancaume) and Manu (Raffaëla Anderson) who go on a violent spree against a society in which they feel marginalized. Nadine is a part-time prostitute. Manu is a slacker who does anything - including occasional porn film acting - to get by in the small town southern France.

Next, we have a very early entry in the Jesse Crowder series, Death Journey. Fearful that their star witness might be murdered, two attorneys hire a protector to bring him from Los Angeles to New York. Jesse Crowder (Fred Williamson) is a no-nonsense tough guy. He buddies up with the witness, an accountant, and they hit the road. Outwitting their foes means taking all manner of conveyance, including automobile, train, and airplane. At every turn, Crowder and the witness face a variety of attacks, including gunfire and knife-wielding villains. At ease with the ladies, Crowder manages the entire journey with shirt unbuttoned and stogie clenched firmly in his teeth.

His sister, Christina goes to New York to find McBain, a lieutenant Santos rescued during the Vietnam War. McBain agrees to avenge Santos' death, so he calls up his old war buddies, raises the necessary funds by killing a few drug dealers and threatening the mafia, then leads an attack to topple the corrupt government.

She really wants to give it up to the right guy, but all her good-hearted attempts go awry. High school was never like this! Kim Stanton and Jovita Bush fill out the squad, and Russ Meyer perennial Patrick Wright plays the coach.

Next, we have the 1983 Sean S. Cunningham directed “Spring Break.” Racing to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., with their minds set on sun-drenched fun and scantily clad women, Stu (Paul Land) and O.T. (Steve Bassett) see their big plans hit a little snag when they're forced to shack up with college geeks Adam (Perry Lang) and Nelson (David Knell). Refusing to let the girl-repellent duo spoil their good time, Stu and O.T. decide to take their new roommates under their wings and show them what  spring break  is all about.

Of course, that opens the floodgates to a swarm of weirdos and losers who have no business protecting or serving anything. Steve Guttenberg, Kim Cattrall, G.W. Bailey, Bubba Smith, Leslie Easterbrook, Michael Winslow, George Gaynes and many, many other people star in this zany comedy classic that spawned a rash of raucous sequels.

For our last week of December Nasties, we thought it would be a good idea to talk about our top six favorite Video Nasties. Now, we have limited the list to only ones that we have reviewed on the show, so it does leave some more popular titles out.
Our first review this week is 1968’s “The Ghastly Ones.” Sex and gore make one helluva feature from the addled mind of underground filmmaker, Andy Milligan. In Ghastly Ones, an eerie Victorian mansion is the setting where three couples must spend the night to inherit a fortune. But it's not long before the dismembering starts! In Seeds of Sin, a hopeless alcoholic terrorizes her hugely dysfunctional children -- one of whom happens to be a clergyman.
This may be a case of the advertising campaign being much better than the actual           film. One tagline reads: “Mad creatures of the night existing only for sensual sadistic moments of human slaughter!”

Next, we have “killer Nun,” or “Suor Omicidi” A mentally disturbed nun develops some nasty habits in this cult horror tale. Suffering from a brain disorder, morphine-addicted Sister Gertrude (Anita Ekberg) spins out of control. She tries to get help, but none of her colleagues at the mental hospital take her seriously -- until someone starts murdering patients. Gertrude's erratic behavior makes her the prime suspect, so the Mother Superior has Gertrude committed … but the murders continue.

First up for review is a little gem of Nazisploitation called: “SS Hell Camp,” or “The Beast in Heat.” Directed by Luigi Batzella and starring Macha Magall, this movie deals with the Nazi army and some of their stranger “medical” tests. After countless experiments with genetic mutation, a sadistic SS officer (Macha Magall) finally creates a sex-crazed man-beast that she can use to torture the terrified female prisoners at a Nazi POW camp during the throes of World War II. As she stuffs her evil creation with massive doses of mega-aphrodisiacs to keep it randy, she's all too aware that Allied forces could land at any minute and destroy everything she's worked for.

Next, we have “Madhouse,” a.k.a  “And When She Was Bad,” Flesh and the Beast,” “Scared to Death,” and “There Was a Little Girl.” This video nasty stars, Trish Everly, Michael MacRae, Dennis Robertson, Morgan Hart, Allison Biggers, Edith Ivey, Richard Baker, Don Devendorf, Jerry Fujikawa, Doug Dillingham, and was directed by, Ovidio G. Assonitis. Just before her birthday, good-girl teacher Julia (Trish Everly) dreams of a twin sister she never met. That dream turns into a real-life nightmare when her party is crashed by the deranged, deformed asylum fugitive Mary (Allison Biggers). As the women's uncle, Father James (Dennis Robertson), tries to keep peace between the sisters, the bodies of Julia's friends keep piling up anyway. But Mary may not be the murderer in this wild slasher flick.

Our first movie that we review is known by many names, “Night of the Howling Beast,” “La maldición de la bestia,” “Dans les griffes du loup-garou,” “Hall of the Mountain King,” “Horror of the Werewolf,” “Il licantropo e lo yeti,”  “The Curse of the Beast,” 

“Varulven,” but our favorite is, “The Werewolf and the Yeti.” This is the story of, Waldemar, the renowned adventurer,  who joins an expedition to find the Yeti in the Himalayas. While hiking the mountains, he's captured by two cannibalistic demon nymphets guarding a remote Buddhist temple and becomes their sex-slave. They transform him into a werewolf and set him loose to roam the mountain where he encounters a sadistic bandit, or “Sherpa Pirate.” 

Our second film for review is “Contamination.” A deserted ship arrives in New York City carrying a slaughtered crew and an even more horrific cargo: mutant green eggs the size of footballs that pulsate with life until they spray hideous death (exploding from human chests, no less). When a government research team begins an investigation, they uncover a grisly conspiracy involving murder, space monsters and … coffee!

Movies that are held up on pedestals, cited as examples of greatness in filmmaking or that have huge cult followings. There’s a difference this time, these are movies that we just don’t see the reason for all the love. Now, this is not to say that we will hate every movie that we talk about, it’s just the opposite in most cases, actually. This list is, top six movies that we just don’t get the love for. 

Our first movie up for review is 2001’s “El Espinazo del Diablo,” or “The Devil’s Backbone.” Directed by Guillermo Del Toro, this is the story of twelve-year-old Carlos (Fernando Tielve) who the latest arrival at Santa Lucia School, an imposing stone building that shelters orphans of the Republican militia and politicians during the last days of the Spanish Civil War. Carlos gradually uncovers the dark ties that bind the inhabitants of the school: hidden riches, sexual intrigue and the restless ghost of a murdered student, who may be the only one to provide resolution.

Next, we have the last entry in our listener appreciation month, 1993’s “Psycho Cop Returns” or “Psycho Cop 2.” This Adam Rifkin directed flick centers around a group of businessmen throwing a bachelor party. The only problem? Officer Joe Vickers, the Satan worshipping patrolman has overheard the guys bragging about the party in a local diner. Vickers shows up at the party to dispense his own form of justice.
