JA Podnovel Show 44IntroSpecial Guest Host: JenWho you may have
heard mentioned in previous shows and is one of the bennitt
girls.Today’s ReadingChapter 44 of Pride and PrejudiceThe
Introduction of Miss DarcyMy DiscussionIn this chapter it very much
evident of Darcy’s feeling toward Elizabeth by making a point of
introducing his sister to Elizabeth and in fact making special trip to
make this happen along with her Aunt and Uncle taking notice of his
partially. In the first few lines of the chapter we can see that
even Elizabeth is surprised by Darcy’s visit to Lambton on the same
day as her visit to Pemberley. It is proof again of his feelings for
Lizzie. It is also clearly seen the difference between Lydia &
Elizabeth, one falls dramatically into love, were the other comes to a
gradual revelation of her feelings. Perhaps age had something to do
with this or the difference in character. JA

[1]Today’s ReadingChapter 40 of Pride and Prejudice In this chapter
Lizzie reveals to Jane, Wickham’s true character and tells all about
Mr Darcy’s Marriage proposal editing out certain facts about Mr
Darcy and the Bingley’s sister roles in separating her and BingleyMy
DiscussionThey both decide it would be in everyone’s best interest
not to reveal the real Mr Wickham as he would be leaving soon (which
as we know was not the best decision to make but as they say hindsight
is a good thing) In chapter 40 we can see the great difference
between Elizabeth’s character and Jane’s. One side we have Jane
who is a complete innocent in her beliefs of the conscience of others
(the fact that she can’t believe Wickham could be that bad) and she
also felt very sympatric toward Darcy after hearing that his proposal
had been rejected. The other side of the coin Lizzie shields her
sister from knowing something that would only hurt her. From her
perspective she has more cynical view of the world and in some ways is
able to see the true character of others perhaps because of this she
choose to protect her sister from the world(by withholding
information).JA news JA Regency Awards updateWho

MayReview of new Jane Austen moviesAs mentioned a few shows back, I
had rented the new Jane Austen collection 3 DVD set. Just this week I
was in the Sanity store looking through the DVD’s and what should
pop up but the new JA collection. So I have now added this to my
library. The only problem I have with this collection is that it has
the old Emma and does not include the new Sense and Sensibility (which
I watched on youtube). The two new movies, Nothanger Abbey & Mansfield
Park are definitely worth watching. When you compare the difference
between the old 80’s BBC Northanger Abbey & the new one, I have to
say is the fact that the BBC version is a bit more gothic in style,
with the new version being a bit more of a fairy tale. Manfield
Park’s Fanny is played by Billie Pipper who is great in this role.
In the new version we can see Fanny fighting back, not just being a
shadow behind the seens that we see in the BBC version. Out of these
two new versions I think Mansfield Park is the one I like best. New

similar podcast about L.M. Montgomery, who wrote Anne of Green Gables
JA newsNew box SetIn Australia, the ABC shop will be releasing on the
6th June the complete box set of 6 BBC Jane Austen DVD’s for around
$150.00. I am considering buying it but when P&P first came out on
DVD I took my copy back as the colour was crap compared to the Video
so I ended up taking it back and getting another copy of it on
video.Well now I have two 2 copies on video without a good video
player. Another Jane Austen QuizThis called what would Jane Austen
do?It gives you a scene and you decide what Jane Austen would do.Check
out link [1] in show notes.Courtesy of the austenblog.com New segment
of JA newsJane Austen blogsSince I have talked about the quiz from the
austenblog.com [2] it makes sense for it to be the first one I tell
you about. One interesting post was about JA themed tarot cards. There
is atleast one post each day

Austen PortraitAccording to an article about the supposed Rice’
Jane Austen portrait it could be a painting Jane Austen when she was
14 commisioned by her lawyer uncle, which was passed to a relative on
Austen's death. Since then it can be traced back to Jane Austen but
there is still some disagreement over it being the real thing. Go to
