What words of triumph and joy! Despite the melancholic melody, this song is a song of celebration of the birth of the King of kings.

After we hear about the background of this beautiful song, we'll hear an artist that I'm pleased to say that I personally introduced to podcasting. I found Cat Jahnke's music at garageband.com early in 2007, loved it, emailed her, told her about podcasting, and she responded by posting several of her songs at the Podsafe Music Network for podcasters to use on their shows. As I record this, it is Easter week, considered by many to be the most holy of weeks in the Christian calendar. We celebrate the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the eternal son of God, who conquered death and thereby sealed Satan’s fate and made it possible for you and for me to receive forgiveness and eternal life. All of mankind has a true reason to celebrate, and the church has written many hymns to reflect that fact.

Today I went to a funeral. Please, don’t be too concerned. The woman who has passed from this life is most assuredly with her Savior. She lived a long life, and was well loved by her family. They will, of course miss her, but have the hope of seeing her again when there is a great reunion in Heaven.

At the funeral, one of the grandchildren, a woman by the name of Teresa Young, sang one of my favorite hymns, “Just A Closer Walk With Thee.” Theresa has a great voice, which you will hear on the podcast, because I recorded the service, and then later asked her if I could play this song for you...
