Takaharu Nakai of the Snowboarding Seven Samurai

In Whistler British Columbia there's a crew of film and snowboard enthusiasts making their mark and blowing some minds. The group is known at as the 7-Samurai. They are all from Japan and they are all showing the international scene what the Land of the Rising Sun has to offer. Among the crew is 25-year-old Takaharu Nakai. Nakai has been competing in the snow since 1990; if you do the math that would put him in his first contests at the age of six.

In this clip from Crushed we have Nakai logging some heavy runs that were reportedly recorded in about one month. Be prepared to see some big, big air. Frightening air.

The guy just recently switched board and clothing sponsors and is now has full support from the Salomon Snowboards international team.

Snowboarding With Craig Beaulieu And Friends

Earlier this year Clyde Snowboards rider Craig Beaulieu defied expectations and took down big boys like Danny Kass and Dave Fortin at the Grenade Games in Whistler, for a first place win. With a $10,000 paycheck and bragging rights the 24-year-old was asked what's one thing the event showed the world. And to that he answered "I think it showed the world that having fun is the most important part about snowboarding." And that it is.

In this edition of Crushed video we have Beaulieu going mental and showing what it takes to earn first place in a world class competition. Not to mention a few of his friends are coming along for the ride.

Chris Dufficy Like's Coffee, Tattoos, and Snowboarding Like A Bat Out Of Hell

Northern Vancouver snowboarder Chris Dufficy needs no introduction. His signature style and out going personality have been a great component to the professional snowboarding world for many years. Dufficy rides for Signal Snowboards, Signal Clothing, and Signal Coffee. How's that for a package deal. Here on Crushed we have his mind bending segment from the a-class Alterna Films movie Knockout. Alterna is a pioneer in making top-of-line films and Knockout is a great example.

Chris seems very fond of his work in the film and talked about what it's like working with Alterna and Executive Producer Carlos Wein: "It's a great Canadian company, you know, and the videos that he produces are really well edited and everything is just really professional in that sense. It's a new outlook in which he perceives to make movies, and it's what the industry needs right now. He is definitely headed in the direction that I think it all needs to be going as well."

"He went out of his way to hook me up for this film and it worked to our advantages. To tell you the truth, it was a great thing and Carlos is a great guy, and I was super happy to work with him… for sure."

Sebastien Toutant Progressing Snowboarding To The Next Level

Sixteen-year-old Sebastien Toutant, or 'Toots' as he's known, has been making waves by standing out from the scores of new kids bursting onto the international snowboard scene. Toots has been pulling away from the pack by consistently busting new big moves and winning contests hand-over-foot.

Sebastien has big goals and bright future. When asked who he would like to compete against in the time ahead the Canadian of course responds by tackling the top: "Shaun White because he is the best and he won everything and it will be a good challenge."

In this segment from the Alterna award nominated film Knockout, Seb Toots showcases some of his signature moves and his smooth style. Style is one thing Toutant knows a little about. On when it's appropriate to go big the youngster comments "I think spin to win is not what the judges are looking for. I prefer a good 900 with a good style better then a sketchy 1080. It's normal to have some big spins in the contest because every rider wants to win but you need to take care of your style."

Snowboarding Lessons With Matt Belzile

Canadian snowboarder Matt Belzile has a strange talent. /"I [can] do this thing where I stand on a board with these straps on my feet and head down hill,/" explains the Westbeach rider. And he does it pretty well. Well enough to make a section out of it in the award nominated Alterna film Knockout. The segment showcases his skills on the rail as well as pulling giant air. And don/'t ignore his determination. Keep your eyes open for the hard slam on a giant road gap attempt. Matt comes up short and hits the ground like a rock. But where at first you don/'t succeed, try, try again. That/'s exactly what Bezile did and he pulls the trick with seamless ease. (And bigger.)

The segment is soundtracked by British indie pop band Guillemots. The Guillemots released their last album, Red, in 2008. This song is from the album and is titled Last Kiss.

Snowboarder JF Fortin Stomping New Tricks

British Columbian snowboarder JF Fortin has a few goals for the coming snow season. And it/'s all focused around one thing: /"get some rad air this winter and get a dope part in the next Alterna films./"

The last Alterna Film, Knockout, was just nominated for three awards at the X-Dance Film Festival in Salt Lake City, including Best Soundtrack, Best Cinematography, and Best Core Film.

Fortin has a pretty sick segment in Knockout which features him going big on huge jumps and crazy slopes. It/'s all set to some pretty dope tunes from alternative rock artists The New Royales. Song is Hit N/' Run. Watch and listen.

Backcountry Rider Tadej Vaneltan Going Mental

You can say Tadej Vaneltan was born to snowboard. /"When I was 9, I started to walk sideways so my parents got me a skateboard to make it easier for me,/" cracks Tadej. /"Snowboarding followed skateboarding and I just loved it so much, I didn’t think about anything else anymore./"

The Slovenian pro boarder is obviously joking on the sideways walking comment, but he does credit his dedication to snowboarding as a youngster as one of the reasons he excels in the sport: /"You know, that type, when family friends asked me, what about girls, I answered, Oh I don’t have time for this, I’m just snowboarding. Hehe. It’s been a lot of fun. I like the girls now too./"

In this segment of Crushed we see Vaneltan busting out big in the scenic Slovenia. Set to the soulful sounds of Janelle Monae and the track Violet Stars Happy Hunting, this video is one not to be missed.

BASE Jumping from Shanghai Skyscrapers

Even under the most controlled and routine conditions, BASE jumping is a sport that can easily lead to severe injury and death at any given time. Add illegally jumping from the roof of a not-completely-constructed skyscraper in a foreign country with unpredictable police to the innate danger of the sport. Then lets do it a few times, including some night jumps. How's that for pushing the limits?

These BASE jumpers take Shanghai by storm with a series of jumps from some of the tallest buildings in Asia. How they got to the top is anybodies guess. Check it out.

Dane Reynolds Going For Broke In Epic Surf

Dane Reynolds is one of the most explosive surfers in the world, and one of America/'s top prospects in competitive surfing. In the 2009 Surfer Poll Awards Reynolds took 3rd place as most favored surfer, behind nine-time world champ Kelly Slater and world class Australian surfer Joel Parkinson.

In this clip we see Dane free-surf some overhead backhanders and some firing righties in his home state of California and around the globe. The footage comes from Reynolds debut feature length film First Chapter. His primary sponsor, Quicksilver, supported their young prodigy as he took a year-long break from competitive surfing to shoot the film across multiple continents in various different wave conditions.

Dane Reynolds surfs Morocco in First Chapter

I have a feeling the last time anyone stormed the beaches of Morocco like this a government was overthrown. Here's Dane Reynolds charging through the long right-hand point breaks of the arabic world's Western Kingdom with an energy like no other. Dane busts out his patented all or nothing maneuvers one after another on roping, overhead rights in his debut film "First Chapter."

The 23-year-old Ventura resident spent over a year traveling, surfing, filming and editing for this flick. His decision to shoot the movie carried the cost of missing out on professional competition, but one that proved to be worth the risk. Dane ended up winning 'Best Male Performance' and 'Video of the Year' at the 2006 Surfer Poll Awards.

This "First Chapter" segment features Dane busting ariels to power gouges that are off the frigging wall. And how's that opening clip of him charging through those overhead barrels? Nuts man. Also as an added bonus: the music comes from Dane's personal selection of his favorite indie rock bands.

The stars of this one have enough X-Games and IFMA trophies to re-fill a couple gold, silver and bronze mines. Canadian freestyle motocross champion Ben Milot and his friends Travis Pastrana, Nate Adams, Twitch, Jean-Sebastien Roy, Ronnie Renner and more go absolutely nuts in this Extreamy nominated motocross film Invasion 3.

In this clip - soundtracked by New York punk band The Turbo A.C./'s - the boys get filthy flying above sand dunes, over fields, through mud; you know business as usual. It/'s all freestyle. Because, as filmmaker Milot puts it: /"It/'s more fun./"
