You'll start witha farewell show from Canadian impressarrios and comedians Wayne and Schuster followed by a CBC mystery project from Nova Scotia then we'll have a slice of Ontario vacationing and from the States a well known baseball story and we end with the Nelsons as in Ozie and Harriet.

It is my pleasure to present a 24 hour otr marathon in eight parts. The first episode is hosted by Larry Gassman of Fulerton California. Larry begins with Suspense's August Heat starring Ronald Coleman. He then presents a small memorrial to Les Paul who died earlier that week. After that we listen to a Red Skelton show his last of that particular season. Now remember that I was recording so we miss a bit of this. After Red Skelton we listen to a Jack Benny program broadcast from Cleveland Ohio and to the Babe Ruth Story starring William Bendix. We end with Dragnet. I want to begin this overview by thanking David O'neil from Extinct Attractions. Just recently he played an intervew of himself done by another podcaster. Well if Dave can do it ... so can I. And I really wanted to share this one with you guys without starting another podcast. So here it is. Lst Saturday I participated in an interview roundtable with noted baseball historian and local radio talk show host Ira Fistel. We talked about a lot of stuff including the 1919 Black Sox Scandal how baseball games were originally thrown the difference between a 19th century and current game and the state of baseball broadcasting. The pannel includes myself, noted otr personality Larry Gassman, Mike Stern and our exultant chair Bob Acosta. It's an hour and a half. And I really hope you come away learning something. If you're a baseball fan you're gonna love it. Btw what does this have to do with Brunch or BBC? Nothing!! But if Gary Chambers can take four month breaks and David Bales can just disappear ... lol ... well I can digress sometimes. Enjoy.

Only thirty minutes today as tomorow we pick things up with a Christmas party for the military. But it brings up a question. What you're hearing today is something heard almost every Thanksgiving. Last weeknd was radio out of the past's third annual Christmas marathon. The shows were so good they deserve a replay. We'll be playing them in hour long incraments for the next couple weeks so enjoy. Certain shows will be longer. Episode 1 has Fibber Mcgee and Molly and Listening to Christmas Carrolls followed by Christmas with the 8th army with the BBC. We then listen to Treasury Star parade and a modern Scrooge. These shows would have been played by Fred. And were played originally by Robert Acosta. I've done my best to reproduce. I finally got on Tower Of Terror and I've been meaning to talk about it at wttm and what with work being the usual postThanksgiving busy I thought I"d just say this. What the heck was I afraid of? I loved it. This week I start our Brunch with a bit of serial. Yes missspelling on purpose. We begin listening to The Spy Who Came In From The JCold this week. It's an espionage novel that's been numbered as one of the hundred greatest novels of all time. In our first episode Alec Lemus returns to England after being the station chief at Berlin's MI office. He's in for quite a surprise. I don't have a date on the episodes but the book came out in 1963. After episode 1 we have our mystery. It's our first look at Hercule Poirot. "Hercule Poirot's Christmas," by Agatha Christie takes place in 1938. This edition is from December 24 1986. Just who killed Simeon Lee? Was it his son David? Or Harry? Or George? Could it be Pilar the Spanish refugee? Was it Colnel Muster with the axe in the study? Oops wrong mystery. Enjoy. Full two hours in stereo. You will be dearly missed and I hope that I flying solo can do the show half as well. While I've got a drama planned for later this month that discusses World War I in more detail a documentary presented by Canadian host Mike Morrison and used with permission. Through music Mike explains warfare and while the show has a Canadian slant it could be applied here as well. If you serve or know someone who does please thank them. I think it was Monty Python who said "This record has no offensive content asside from four cunts one clitorus and a foreskin and as they occur in the beginning of the record you're past them now." This was in the beginning of the Holy Grail soundtrack after you were congratulated for buying the expensive version of the record. Anyone else have that album? It's the one that begins with this great classical music beginning and then the announcer farts after which he says "Oh sorry you can edit that out can't you? "Yeah no problem." says the studio executive. Anyway I'm writing that because this episode of "The Price of Fear," played by Fred Bertelsen does have some strong language. Just in case kids are asking questions. Ep 4 howver should be perfect for the youngsters. Anyway please enjoy "Come as you Are."

I gotta be honest gang. I'm worried about my co host. He had commented last night during the marathon he wasn't feeling well. I'm worried about him. I haven't been home all day though either. So if ep 40's late ... well I knnow you'll understand. Meanwhile we're gettin back in to the otr here. And this was recorded last night and played between 5 and 6 pm eastern. Please enjoy an episode of "The Jello Progam," featuring Jack Benny originally broadcast on the NBC Red network on November 2 1941. It features Basil Rathbone another great Sherlock Holmes. And then we'll listen to "Suspense," from June 23 of 1949 and "Ghost Hunt," starring Ralph Edwards and a certain man in black. I wonder if he used his way when leaving the studios. Btw on a Haungted Mansion note Bob Acosta's never been on Haunted Mansion. You know when someone's never been on a Disney ride I don't want to blow it for them. I mean okay I've heard Tower of Terror. I'm glad I have. I'll get on it I promise. Anyway enjoy.

October 30 is the 70th aniversary of one of radio's classic shows. "The Mercury Theater On The Air's version of HG Wells "War Of The Worlds." It's a program which was ahead of its time as it told the story using news footage as oposed to ttelling the story. Ameiricans were just learning to trust radio and while it's never been confirmed that suicides happene people really did think thsat martians were attackoing New Jersey. As most of you know from my profile I have been blind since birth. But it hasn't stopped me from leading a fully capable life full of enjoyment adventure love and hapiness. So last week when "Blindness was released in theaters I had to see if our pals at the BBC had released the book as a drama. They have and it's good. Two surprises. What's one of Fred Bertelsen's greatest atributes? You can say fine radio host outstanding co host has an extemperaneous side is willing to help anyone with anything otr or BBC related but he's also a bit of a snoop. In a good way. This is a program called dDead Fall and was part of the CBC mystery project or as they say project take the pro part likepro sports and you get the idea. Anyway Mystery Project actually put several BBC plays among its titles and here's one of them. You might also enjoy the Winter Olympic update from Salt Lake in 02. There comes a time when people make mistakes. Even the Great Big Bird of Sessamee Street fame or didn't you have Big Bird Sings when you were a child. Such was the case with Matt Cox last week when he unwittingly sent Fred Brideshead 3 for the final editing. Because of this and to keep the story current you're getting two episodes this week plus a Graham Green thriller from Fred. More about these in a moment but first a poll question. We open by asking you how you feel about different lengths of the show each week or two? Reason is BBC has so many 90 minute productions out we're holding back when we're not sharing. So would you mind some 90 minute plays? If so would you still mind if the other host plays an hour or would you rather see us keep to our two hour format? And so this week we begin Brideshead Revissited. It's the story of Charles Rider and his friendship with Sebastian Flight. We look back with Charles from his time as a captain in the infantry in 1944. The story really begins in 1923 with the introduction of Charles and Sebastian. Remember this was a tv show and a recent film besides a book. As you listen pay attention to the different classes. We then spin out of this world with Fred to finish Hitchhikers and return to the little world of Don Camillo. Enjoy. Btw gang I leave for the desert on Thursday so I won't get the show until I get home. These aniversaries. Only come once a year and Mrs. Cox and I need a vacation.
