Podcasting gets no respect from traditional media. To them we're a
joke. What they don't understand is that podcasting is a social
movement. People are growing sick of the watered-down, cookie-cutter
bullshit networks and record companies throw at us. They want and
deserve more. Big media derives its power by having the resources to
mass market their product in a unified effort.

A bunch of us podcasters started thinking, wouldn't it be cool to hit
old media where it hurts? That's why, on March 22nd, the podcasting
community is going to take an indy podsafe music artist to number one
on the iTunes singles charts as a sheer example of why we are now a
force to be reckoned with. The track we've chosen is "Mine Again" by
the band Black Lab. A band, mind you, that was dropped from not just
one, but two major record labels. So we picked them because making
them number one, even for just one day, will be new media's little way
of giving those record labels the finger.

So if you're a podcast listener, we're asking you on March 22nd,
2007, to take 99 cents and 2 minutes of your time to stick it to the
record labels and make iTunes "Mine Again". If you're a podcaster,
we're asking you to join up with us and help spread the word to your
listeners and even if you don't have a podcast tell 5 of your friends
and tell them to tell 5 of their friends because nothing would prove
the power of new media more than showing them how much we can screw
with their system. Because if we can succeed with this small example,
then there's no telling what can do next.
