Just is case anyone thinks I'm only looking at the "anti govt." side of the story, here's a video that makes fun of 9/11 Truthers, specifically the guys who produced Loose Change, the video. The final cut is being released soon. I am very aware of how this "hit" piece certainly looks damning, and I agree that most if not all "quote mining" incidences are at least 1/2 true.

In California, there are, at least, 10 wildfires in existance at this point in time and 7 of those are in the San Diego area. More than 200, 000 acres have already burned, 1000 houses have been destroyed and more than 300,000 people have been evacuated to various facilities across the county.

The major setback that is hindering efforts to fight these fires is that we are currently experiencing a Santa Ana. With a Santa Ana comes very high winds and very dry heat, both of which help to accelerate fire. I believe that the largest wind gusts have been 70 miles per hour, this in turn, causes the fires to move at the same pace. Plus, with this many fires occurring at the same time, there are not enough firefighters to go around. As of this morning, the two largest fires are 0% under control and spreading rapidly.

The officials here are saying that a break in the weather may come tomorrow, but that still leaves the entire day today in which almost no control will be gained over the increase in area of the fire.

As a final note, please, please, keep all the displaced people and animals in your prayers and please pray for a change in the weather so that we can get this horror under control.

Behind the Ron Paul sensation is a desperate desire for someone, anyone, to stand up and call "bullshit" on the "War on Terror" and all that it has entailed, from illegal surveillance of citizens and nightmarish foreign adventures to an executive branch mad with power and drunk on its sense of entitlement.

Comic Strip Blogger: The only way I can answer that question is by the chinese example, (minimum wages, unions), the change occurs from within a country, It is the right and the obligation of the people of a country to fight for their rights, and if YOU feel strongly about another persons lack of freedoms, You should go there and help them fight it, but i'm talking about you, as an individual, not you as in an entire country's military... The U.S. military was established to protect the rights of the U.S. citizen against foreign enemys. That is its sole purpose.

Back to how does free trade promote change in tyrannical regimes?
I think china is a good example, it still has some slave labor, but it is also being compelled by its labor force to create labor protection laws(which only affect foreign companies right now, but may soon spread to all industries)

Personally- I don't think the U.S. has any right to tell any other government how it should be... that is the whole idea of sovereignty. I don't like tyranny, but it is not my responsibility to make sure the children are paid well in Pakistan, my responsibility is to make sure my rights and my fellow american's rights are protected, and in that order. How can you protect someone else's rights if you have not protected your own?
Hopefully, i didn't go to far off topic, but it is an important issue... and you raise some very valid concerns...

Torchbearer: if USA will do free trade with all countries on this planet then what incentive will dictatorships, non-democratic countries, commies and countries exploiting children... have to change?
