pip, you muppet, where did I say that I am not Polish? I said that I am Slavic and you didn't know that includes also Polish. You are imbecile, pip obviously therefore becaus you still don't understand it.

pip: you are idiot and not only racist. I am Polish = Slavic (like Russians, Ukrainians, Czechs, Slovaks, Slovenias, Serbians, Croats, etc).
Loek: hehe, yes, let's not get into this shite.

CSB: yes, I meant the internal "foreigners" news group, with Joost and all those guys. Let's not get into that, right...?

pip: believe me: if I really wanted to, I could do it and more. You mentioned my ethnicity as argument against me what is pure racism, considering that Slavs (me) and Germanic folks (you) are diffferent races. Are you that guy whose father left him in childhood and now is grumpy and racist piglet (partially) because of it?
Loek: which newsgroup you mean? The internal one in Finland? Well, actions of Dutch government are reflection of feelings of Dutch people that's why I allow myself called Duch "racists" even though it is their government that is racist - after all it was elected in free elections. And yes, services are nowadays becoming more important than industrial production, but the point is in "exporting" services and not just digesting them in internal markets. Yes, EU rocks and you Loek benefited from it, but on both individual and country level one must apply in practice equality of all citizens. Netherlands is in EU first and everything else is secondary.

Oops, forgot to respond also to CSB's other post. I fully agree with you! Although I may enjoy a short video once in a while, the audio format is much more convenient and much more important for me.

Good morning everybody!
CSB: When you read my post, you will hopefully find that I did not question your motives. I was only questioning whether a boycot makes sense in practice. I also believe that you need to play by the rules when your are part of the club.
I myself am an immigrant, having left The Netherlands in 1995 to move to Finland, so I have benefited from the open community. I can tell you that I am 100% sure that I would have never gained the same experiences that I have gained here in my professional life if I would have been working for a Dutch company. For what it's worth: I was reading your blog entries already then. OK, they were called newsgroups in those days, but the same principle.
I think you should be a bit careful using the "racist" word, when people are just trying to have a discussion with you. Statements like "you Dutch", what does that make you? I am Dutch, because I happened to be born in The Netherlands, yes, but does that make me a racist?
Adam: there is something between physical production and services that can provide a competitive advantage. Finland has been in the top of the list of most competitive countries in the world year after year now, and I can tell you, there is not a lot of serious physical production going on here. Perhaps you should clarify what you mean with competitive and production.

sorry for being overly talkative, but another topic:
podcasting is quaint and going out of fashion ALREADY!
Adam, maybe in one of your next podcasts you can talk about podcasting becoming obsolete and people making short online videos (less than 10 minutes) instead of longer podcasts (40 minutes and more) - not understanding that audio-only is much better form for people who commute or who need to work and can't watch videos. Unfortunately we are coming to the point when "online video killed podcasting" so maybe you as Podshow Inc honcho could mention something about it that podcasting is alive and kicking and most importantly that it is STILL needed in audio-only form!

Loek : I am sure, I have seen them in and out, including chipsets. Please note: my boycott of Dutch products is encompassing not just cheese and fish but also not going to Amsterdam for fun (what I was doing in past many times) and omitting any confences that take place in Netherlands. I repeat: you Dutch are pissing off wrong people and you squandered excellent opportunity to make new friends, opportunity so excellently utilized by UK, Ireland and Sweden. In EU voting power of Netherlands is tiny and pissing off countries that have more voting power is not particularly wise too.
Let me be brutal here: your Netherlands will be invided by my compatriots - as workers and businessmen - sooner or later, at the latest in 2011. However if you will continue prolonging this blockade (opening up was promised for May 2006, for January 2007, for March 2007 - none of these promises were kept), then it will be hostile invasion. After all what kind of sympathy you can have for people who consider you to be of lower race?

Loek, when I say producing, I mean industrial production. A country cannot compete with services only.

I think producing doesn't really matter. Producing in the sense of industrial production, is that important? It's about value-add.
Adam, what are you producing, besides being an executive producer who doesn't actually produce anything, if you know what I am saying? Making podcasts, is that production in your sense of the word? Isn't Endemol, for instance, a world-renowned production company (OK, not anymore Dutch-owned, but still producing in Holland)?
How about the services sector, which is quite developed in Holland, is that production in your opinion?
You are a bit stuck in the old framework of physical production and (heavy) industry.
CSB: are you sure the phones you are using and promoting do not contain any Philips chips?
Good luck with your boycott... I think a lot of the products your are buying have entered Europe through Rotterdam, and some of them may have been even designed in Holland, or pumped out of mother Earth by Dutch engineers...
