Adam,
While I agree with most of what you said about trying new things/ways in regards to the direct link to the show, I was wondering... why not put "download it" in the control panel where people would expect to find it? Or at least add it as an option beside "favorite players" and the XML link? A simple [DL] should be very easy to add.
While I'm sure clicking "play it" then downloading the show is fine for most people, the "play it" link has never worked for me under either Opera or Firefox. I don't complain about it because I'm sure it's probably my plugins or some glitch in my configuration or maybe just one of the downsides of using BSD/Linux. Also the typical reaction from site owners/operators tends to be "upgrade!" or "switch to browser/plugin X!" and while I'm sure the official PodShow response would be much more polite and friendly it just doesn't seem worth it to bother them with it.
However, that leaves me in a very inconvenient position. I -cannot- play any show on Podshow through the "play it" link. That means I can't see the download link. There is a similar problem using text based browsers such as "lynx" or "links", which includes most visually impaired people. They tend to use text browsers filtered through a text to speech interface.
It also means that if I don't want to subscribe to the feed... and I don't like feeds (whatever that may say about me as a person), I am forced to open a graphical browser to listen to the show. If I'm in a situation where I can't open one, I'm stuck unless I know the show's non-podshow website and they have a direct link... as you do at www.curry.com which is why I always listen to your show from there.
No great tragedy if I can't listen to a given show or episode I grant you, I just listen to the radio instead or maybe some CD's.... but it is very frustrating.
At the moment I have to either "open it in my favorite player" to listen to an episode on PodShow or go into the XML file and grab the URL for the file if I want to download it and maybe burn it to CD or put it on a memory card of some type. It just isn't convenient. I don't mind the changes at all, but I wonder if it wouldn't be better to make sure that old features stay easily available to people who may not be able to use some of the new features?
Just a thought...

Michael : I do like TomTom. I don't like Dutch becaus they are racists (January 1st 2007 they have chance to stop being racists).
I was using TomTom a lot and during some of my trips, for examle to French riviera, it almost saved me life. I like TomTom but issue here is different: Adam owes EVERYTHING to having U.S. citizenship. Without U.S. citizenship he would be radio presenter in some hostpital radio in some provincial hospital in Netherlands. Yet he is promoting Dutch product so much as if he would be Dutch or if he would owe anything to Netherlands.
A quote from Austin powers:
"There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch. "

Adam,
I haven't listened for a while, once again you impress me with new changes in Podshow. I agree that being an early adopter sometimes blurres your vision of a current product. I'm expierencing it right now!
By the way CSB, I thought you would love Tomtom, because they made the product initially for Ipaqs and Windows Mobile phones. I've been using it for several years and that was the reason for me to buy an Ipaq.

The lead singer on that first song reminds me of Michael Stipe from R.E.M.

Adam, get over it, Roger Smalls will never ever come to Podcastcon UK or meet you. He is too shy and there are certain other reasons. Why don't you get it that he will never come to podcastcon UK? He may agree to meet you in person though on one to one basis ... so it's up to you Adam.
Adam, you have US citizenship not Dutch one so instead of promoting Dutch produtcts like Dutch satnav TomTom maybe you should promote American ALK CoPilot that is American?
podcasting is coming to zune in next firmware upgrade
new phone jingle is much better than old one
