Death Star Petition
The force behind 25,000 signatures on a "We the People" petition, calling for the federal government to build a death star, may prove strong. The petition is asking the government to build a moon-sized super weapon, just like the one featured in the movie franchise "Star Wars" by 2016.  The movement gained light-speed thrust through campaigning on sites like, 4chan, Reddit and Twitter.  The Obama Administration launched the "We the People" platform on Whitehouse.gov last year. The site says it gives Americans a way to create and sign petitions on a range of issues.  If a petition gathers enough signatures, it will be reviewed by policy experts and may receive an official response.
Harry Belefonte sings a prsion tune
On Wednesday, singer Harry Belafonte offered some friendly advice for Barack Obama while speaking with MSNBC's Al Sharpton. In his view, the president should rule like a third world dictator and throw the GOP in jail for opposing him.  “That there should be this lingering infestation of really corrupt people who sit trying to dismantle the wishes of the people, the mandate that has been given to Barack Obama, and I don’t know what more they want. The only thing left for Barack Obama to do is to work like a third world dictator and just put all these guys in jail,” he said.  In Belafonte's view, Republicans who were elected to office to stop Obama's reckless policies are an "infestation." The word choice is interesting, since one normally deals with an infestation by eliminating it.\
Union Workers are mad
Conservatives won an enormous victory in Michigan last week. The state just passed a right-to-work law that makes union dues voluntary.
Starting next year, union contracts cannot require employers to fire employees who do not pay union dues. The state that gave birth to the United Auto Workers union has becomeAmerica’s 24th right-to-work state.
Unions are furious and vowing to overturn the legislation via an initiative. However, it is hard to see this drive succeeding. Unions already put a state constitutional amendment on the ballot to prevent the legislature from ever passing a right-to-work bill. Michiganders voted it down by a 15-point margin. That is not surprising: Polling shows that a majority of Michiganders support right-to-work. So do 40 percent of union households.
