Bite Size Sports Update Lebron James Should Be MVP

MEVIOtoday

May 03, 2012 Lebron James Should Be MVP

Around this time of year, The NBA casually announces winners of individual awards. Sports writers and broadcasters throughout America and Canada vote on who best excels  in a certain area of the game. Yesterday it was announced that Tyson Chandler garnered the defensive player of the year and that Greg Popovich was voted among his peers as the best overall coach this past season for the spurs. Real quick I want to give our predictions for most improved player of the year and MVP. First for the most improved player a few names come to mind like Avery Bradley and Ryan Anderson but without a doubt this award should go to Jeremy Lin. This guy took the country by storm and everyone was feeling the Linsanity. His number don't lie either. Las t season he was a ghost averaging 2.6 ppg and adding in 1 assist with and average of 9 minutes playing time. Fast forward to this season and in 35 games Lin's average sky rocketed. He averaged 14.6 ppg, 6 assists and 3 rebounds in about 30 minutes a game. This one doesn't seem like a contest at all. For The MVP and this one is a little more tightly contested. But the way I see it, Lebron James has earned the MVP.  King James should be crowned due to the fact that he led his team to an impressive 46-20 record while shooting a career high FG % of 53%. He averaged 27 points, 6 assists and 8 rebounds. This monster year for Lebron should be culminated with a 3rd MVP trophy

My fail of the day goes to Terrell Suggs. The Baltimore Ravens reigning defensive player of the year, tore his achilles and will likely miss the year. Its important to note that he injured himself playing pickup basketball. Not the smartest decision in the off season and I know his coaching staff must be furious. Suggs is an impact player in which he had 70 tackles, including 14 sacks this past season. The Ravens defense takes a huge step back without him in the lineup and will most likely suffer going into the regular season.

The win of the day goes to the Marian Gaborik. The NY Rangers were working overtime and even if Gaborik has had a lack luster post season, netting the game winning erases a lot of that criticism. In wed. game it would take a 3rd overtime period to finish this game off. Thats almost the length of 2 full games. Watch as Gaborik receives a beautiful pass from Brad Richards and fires one right past Holtby for the game winner. The Rangers took the lead in the series going up 2 games to 1.

The must watch game for tonight is the St. Louis blues heading into LA to take on the Kings. The Blues will try to avoid going down 0-3  when they head into enemy territory. The Kings have dominated every aspect of this series and in my opinion are the best team in the playoffs. They are battle hardened and with Quick being virtually unstoppable, The Blues have the odds stacked against them. The puck drops for this must win game for St. Louis at 7:00 pm et.
