Bite Size Sports Update NHL Playoff Preview

MEVIOtoday

Apr 10, 2012 NHL Playoff Preview

The National Hockey Leagues Playoffs start Wednesday and we here at the bite size sports update want to give you our predictions. Heres a screen shot from NHL.com of the playoff tree so lets break it down. So the playoffs start tonight with 3 games and Im going to break them down. First tyne match up that fans will be looking forward to most the #5 seed Philly Flyers taking on the #4 seed Penguins. The Penguins are the Harlem globetrotters of the NHL. They have endless talent and make everything look easy. Even though this will be a physical battle between the 2 teams. I expect The Pens to take the series in 5 games. Move on over to the west where The Red wings will take on The Nashville Predators. These 2 teams split the season series winning 3 a piece. While most have the Predators winning this series due to the stellar goaltending Pekke Rinne. I gotta go against the grain and pick Detroit in this series , strictly based on the fact that this team has made the playoffs a record 21 straight times and know what it takes to win. Lastly The President Trophy winning Vancouver Canucks match up against The Los Angeles Kings. The Kings ended their season on a low note losing their last 2 thus dropping them into 8th place but I gotta a feeling that this is a series the Kings can win. Jonathan Quick has been spectacular and if they can get Jeff Carter back into the lineup, I could see LA reigning supreme winning this series in six. The Bite Size Sports update will keep you posted with all the NHL playoff news.

My fail of the day goes Barack Obama. I know you guys are thinking, what the hell does the president have to do with sports. Well on Monday During the White House Easter Egg Roll President Obama struggled to sink a three point basket, bricking his first 4 and then finally dropping one of his 5th attempt. Everyone knows Obama is a huge basketball fan and he's a pretty decent shooter but on this day, it just wasn't the presidents day

The win of the day goes to Kenneth Faried of The Denver Nuggets. On monday night this  rookie forward had a career night. Granted it was against one of the leagues worst teams but Faried still went for 27 points while grabbing 17 rebounds add in a block and 2 steals. Faried scored on an array of moves, driving to the hoop for layups, putting in a couple of spectacular dunks and even knocking down some jumpers.  The Nuggets would absolutely punish the Warriors with a very lop sided 123-84 win.Â
