SHOW NOTES:
GAME 1: SSX - PS3, Xbox 360
First up is the the pseudo reboot of the SSX series. The classic snowboarding game is now heading in a more real world direction as compared to the PS2 originals.
The snowboarders will now be tackling real world mountains across the globe. Many characters are returning to the game, such as Elise Riggs, Moby Jones, and Eddie Wachowski.
One aspect from the original games that isn’t changing is the great licensed music that you will play along to. several artists have been confirmed for the game including: Skrillex, DJ Shadow, The Hives, and Run-D.M.C.
The game is looking pretty fun, so if you have fond memories of the PS2 games, then maybe you should give this a try.
GAME 2: Binary Domain - PS3, Xbox 360
Next is a game from the creator of the acclaimed Yakuza game series.
Binary Domain is a squad-based shooter set in the near future where androids called “Hallow Children” have become so advanced, that they can’t distinguished from human, and a battle is raging.
You’ll be able to interact with your team through button presses or with voice commands via a headset. Trust is a major element of the game, and how can affect how your teammates will react to you. If you’re a good leader, they will follow without question, but if you make too many bad decisions, they will start to ignore your orders.
Gameplay is very similar to games like Gears of War, and was designed to appeal to a western audience. The game features a 10-hour solo campaign, as well as many multiplayer online campaigns as well.
In the end, the game looks pretty interesting, and might be worth your time if you are a fan of action shooters.
GAME 3: Nexuiz - XBLA
Lastly we have the third release in the Xbox Live Summer of Arcade event. Nexuiz is a re-imagining of a Quake-based first person arena shooter. The new version is being developed byIllFonic for THQ, and features two teams battling against each other across many different sci-fi arenas.
The game features over 100 different power ups called “Dynamic Mutators” which will grant things like a jetpack, or lo gravity. It has 9 arenas, and is using the CryEngine 3 graphics engine for incredible visuals. The game is designed for competitive play, but you can play solo, or online.
If you are a fan of intense shooter action, then fire up your Xbox and download this today. It will also be coming to PSN and Steam later this spring.
