Feb 22, 2012 Black Ops 2 Kerfuffle and A Little Virtual Love - Press Pause Daily

Story 1:

So last week it leaked that Activision would be releasing a sequel to Call of Duty: Black Ops this year. The story was featured on a French gaming blog with a picture of a French Amazon page showing the release.

The site, called Gameblog.fr, says that after they posted the story, Activision contacted them and asked them to take down the story. When they refused to do so, the site says that Activision blacklisted them. They were uninvited from a Transformers game event they had already been invited to, as well as pulling advertising that had been planned to run on the site.

Activision, for their part have refuted the charge, and stated “Activision doesn't blacklist journalists. We believe this was a misunderstanding and are working towards a resolution.”

Whether this is true or not, it does sound a bit harsh for a game release that is really no surprise to anyone. We hope they can work it out.

Story 2:

Valentine’s day was last week, and everyone was in the loving mood, even in the virtual world.

Trion World’s Rift, which just recently went free-to-play, has now broken the Guinness Book of World Records for the most virtual marriages in a single day.

Trion sent out a press release stating that in the 24 hour starting at 9AM PST, 21,879 took place in the game world. The event took place in celebration of the recent Carnival of the Ascended game update. Gamers who participated in the event received a special in-game title called “The Avowed.”

Guinness will tally the results, and is considering adding the record to the 2013 Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition book.

Awwwww.....marriages are always cool, even when they’re virtual.
