This week's new releases has Vita again, a re-imagined Syndicate, some 3D Metal Gear, and an angry demigod.
SHOW NOTES:
GAME 1: PS Vita Official Release
We mentioned a few releases for Sony’s new handheld last week when they released the First Edition bundle, well this week is the official launch of the system. With 2 flavors available for purchase: the $250 Wi-Fi only version, and the $300 3G version.
Along with the games we mentioned last week, there are a few more games launching this week with the system including: Touch My Katamari, Army Corp of Hell, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus, and Dynasty Warriors Next.
Because it just wouldn’t be a game system launch without a new Dynasty Warriors. Am I right?
GAME 2: Syndicate - PS3, Xbox 360, PC
Our first non-Vita related release this week is the re-imagining of the early 90’s cult classic Syndicate.
The game is now a first person shooter that takes place in a future where the world is controlled by Mega-Corporations, and business is war. You will play as the latest prototype agent of EuroCorp as you play through a game of corruption and revenge.
Syndicate’s player will utilize the DART 6 neural chip to slow down time, see through walls, and breach your enemy’s defenses. You’ll be able to upgrade your arsenal of weapons and armor, as well as take your opponents chip technology to enhance your own.
The game features an immersive science fiction world written by best selling author Richard Morgan. There is also 4-player online co-op that offers chip enhanced gameplay, as well as 9 missions reimagined from the original Syndicate.
The game sounds a little similar to last years Deus Ex prequel, but is that sounds good, you might want to give this one a shot.
GAME 3: Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D - 3DS
Next up we have the 3DS port of the third Metal Gear Solid game.
Metal Gear Sold Snake Eater 3D is a re-interpretation of the Playstation 2 game that introduced gamers to Naked Snake, who would eventually become the world famous Big Boss.
The game will have all of the story and gameplay of the original game and will feature auto stereoscopic 3D. It will also feature a “photo cam” system that will use the 3DS camera to let players take pictures of the real world and use it for the in game camo system. It will also use the system’s accelerometer to help Snake as he traverses the environment. Aside from these platform tweaks, it is the same game you’ve probably already played before.
Bottom line....it’s Metal Gear Solid 3.....in 3D....on your 3DS.
GAME 4: Asura's Wrath - PS3, Xbox 360
And lastly this week we have Asura’s Wrath. This game is basically an Asian God of War. In it you play as the demigod Asura, who is on a quest of revenge against the divine powers that cast you out of heaven, killed your wife, and kidnapped your daughter.
The game is an interesting fusion of Asian mythology and science fiction, that adopts a episodic narrative structure that gives the game a dramatic anime TV feel. It also gives gamers relentless action, and places them in situations and then says “ok, now get out of THAT.”
It’s a good thing that you’ll be able to harness your rage to help get you outta these situations. Build up your rage meter and unleash devastating attacks the one’s that betrayed you those thousands of years ago.
There is also a second playable character in the form of Asura’s rival Yasha, who has a different fighting style and can travel at lightning speed across the game’s environments.
In the end, it sound like an interesting take on the God of War formula, with a cool Asian meets sci-fi story.
