Feb 17, 2012 More Board Games and ThinkGeek Coolness - Press Pause Daily

More video games turning into board games and ThinkGeek does it again.

SHOW NOTES:

Story 1:

A few months back we told you about Metal Gear getting the board game treatment with a version of the classic board game Risk, well it looks like soon it won’t be alone.

According to a story, Blizzard is teaming up with USAopoly to create two board games based on their two biggest properties.

Starting in May, gamers will be able to tear themselves away from their World of Warcraft games in order for them to play a game of wait for it.....WoW Monopoly. Yes you heard me right, gamers will be able to play the classic game of Monopoly with a Warcraft flavor. They are running a Facebook poll right now to determine what WoW characters will be used to replace the shoe, thimble, and top hat pieces. The game will come out at a price of $39.95.

The other game will let gamers play the classic strategy game of Risk, combined with the strategy of Starcraft. It will feature 240 custom pieces and will have the games three factions, Terran, Zerg, and Protoss, as they vie for global conquest in three game modes. The game will launch in summer at a price of $49.95.

Hey, we’re all for more board gaming awesomness, but we’re not sure about basing these classic games around WoW and Starcraft....but hey it could be fun.

Story 2:

We here at Press Pause love ThinkGeek. They always have really awesome products, especially for gamers. Well now it looks like they got another kick ass product on the way.

In the vein of the iCade game cabinet comes the iCade 8-Bitty, which is a wireless controller that will connect to both your iPhone/iPod or an iPad and looks like an old school NES controller.

It will work with all iCade compatible games, and will have an open source SDK so that any developers can add support for the device. Pricing is set at $25, and should hopefully be out later this year.

Those guys at ThinkGeek really know how to hurt my wallet, and I LOVE IT.
