Cindy and Jim Green (Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton) have been trying to concieve for some time now.  One stormy night, they decide to gather all the characteristics and life events they feel would make for an ideal child.  The next morning, Timothy, a 10-year-old boy, appears at their doorstep. They take him in, but he proves to be a lot more special than they had originally thought.
