Horsefly named after Beyoncé

Hi I'm Rachael Downie and this is the show that brings you everything you need to know about what's Hot On The Net!

Apple were forced to temporarily postpone sales of its iPhone 4S in Chinese stores after scuffles last week outside the flagship Bejing store.
Eager customers reacted angrily after the store filed to open on schedule last friday, pelting the windows with eggs and arguing with security staff and each other. Hundreds of people had waited overnight in freezing temperatures to be first to get their hands on the new smartphone.
To protect the safety of customers and employees, and to avoid ending up with even more egg on their faces, Apple will be selling the phone online in China for the time being.

A newly discovered horsefly found in northern Australia has been named after Beyoncé.

Researchers were inspired to name Scaptia (Plinthina) Beyonceae after the singer because of its striking golden bottom.

"It was the unique dense golden hairs on the fly's abdomen that led me to name this fly in honour of the performer Beyoncé, as well as giving me the chance to demonstrate the fun side of taxonomy - the naming of species," Bryan Lessard from Australia's science agency CSIRO told Metro. He added that the fly's golden posterior makes it the "all-time diva of flies".

Aussie farmers consider the horsefly a pest. Beyoncé is yet to comment.

That's all for today, join me tomorrow from the mad world of The Only Way Is Essex. Bye!
