Sony Motion Controller Delayed to Fall 2010

Sony has just announced that the still-unnamed PlayStation Motion Controller won't hit its targeted spring 2010 release date -- it's now slated for a worldwide release this fall. In a press release, SCEI president Kaz Hirai cited a desire to "offer an exciting and varied line-up of software titles that will deliver the new entertainment experience to PS3 users" as the reason for the delay, and indicated that Sony will be revealing the launch software lineup soon, including first-party games and games from other companies, "whom we have been working closely with."

Half Life 2: Episode 3 will not come out in 2010, if ever

According to a report in the rumors section of the Feb. 2010 issue ofGame Informer (which doesn't name its source) there won't be "any game from the [Half-Life] franchise in 2010." As if that weren't crushing enough, the magazine says it's not even sure there will be a Half-Life 2: Episode 3, postulating that the next Gordon Freeman adventure might be Half-Life 3 proper.

Bungie Asks Halo gamers to show their hearts for Haiti

If you haven't got any cash to donate to charitable organizations who're currently lending a hand with recovery efforts in Haiti, don't fret -- Bungie's organizing a free method for you to show your support. All you have to do is change your Halo 3 (or ODST) emblem to the heart seen in the image above, and play any of the games' online modes this coming Wednesday and Thursday. Bungie's donating a dime for every person who does so to the Red Cross (up to a maximum donation of $77,000). Check out Bungie's blog for more information about the event.

If you're wanting to make a slightly larger contribution, you could also purchase a special version of the Superintendent t-shirt from the Bungie store -- all of the proceeds from which will also go directly to the Red Cross.

Sega of American and Chiquita announced a partnership via press release today to promote Sega's upcoming Super Monkey Ball: Step & Roll for the Wii. The campaign includes in-game advertising for Chiquita and on-banana advertising for Monkey Ball

Starting next month, more than 180 million Chiquita bananas in supermarkets across the country will feature Monkey Ball stickers. Additionally, Chiquita is sponsoring a sweepstakes where winners can score a family game room makeover with "a 50-inch HDTV, a sofa and four gaming chairs, a copy of Super Monkey Ball Step & Roll, a Wii console, Wii Balance Board (includes Wii Fit Plus) and other great prizes from Chiquita."

Super Monkey Ball: Step & Roll hits shelves February 9.

Is WoW a threat to the porn industry?

According to an article by The Daily Beast's Richard Abowitz, online games like World of Warcraft are one of the top five reasons porn-for-profit is dying, and it all comes down to staying power.

Most of the reasons presented in the article make perfect sense. Fans paying more for sex with porn stars than film companies, piracy, and the lack of the taboo that was once associated with porn are all valid reasons the industry is losing steam, but online gaming?
