BIO: (from myspace.com)

Hi there, my name is Ryan Dishen. I grew up in a small town on the Central Coast of California. The problem is that everyone knows everyone and yet none of these people seem to know themselves. I have recognized the social issues concerning popularity and the struggle to find self worth and have concluded that the majority of our peers (of all ages) are simply confused. The most common outlet for release appears to be the ability to dilute the mind in a frenzy of Drugs and Alcohol. Why are we having trouble defining ourselves…? I am hoping to discover some things of value while I walk the earth and although I am a die-hard pessimist I still believe that this may be possible. I have had it with the monotonous ache of the daily grind and any chance to escape through music and splendid company will be much welcomed. I currently reside in the San Francisco Bay Area my desire to keep searching for the true things in life have not yet ceased. This place is great, even fantastic, and I must say I LOVE it, but this is not where it ends… or at least not yet. I have been obsessed with music for as long as I can remember which doesn’t say much seeing as I can’t even remember what happened last week. But anyways, I started playing guitar officially when I just about to turn fourteen. It was more therapeutic than skateboarding and not quite as dangerous, and it helped me kick my drug habit (for those who don’t know me, that is clearly a joke. I am still a druggie. Another joke.) Life was tough for a kid in a safe small town with no cares other than skating after school as well as skating by with D’s and C’s. But seriously, guitar immediately became my best friend and allowed me to understand that playing music makes me feel alright. As soon as I could strum some chords with a steady rhythm I was quickly rocking out with old Elijah Stein (drummer). That was it for me. I began writing songs concerning profound issues such as feminine odors and the helpful role that bath beads could play in correcting such a wretched stench. We started a punk rock band that we called Half Empty (did I mention I am a pessimist). Thanks to Eddie Numbskull we had our first crack at a stage when we were sixteen, and continued to play shows (although not enough) for many years. When all members of that reminiscent high school punk band grew too tired and strung out to continue on, I found refuge with an old friend, eventually to play bass, and hometown drumming hero Greg Garmen. With the musical alias of Secret Weapon we did a number of shows as well and that was the last band I was in. “Like sand in the hour glass, so are the days of our life.” That quote basically signifies drama. Ultimately, without a musical entourage, I have found myself playing as a singer/songwriter in a folk punk acoustic genre. My current objective is to A) graduate college (6+ years baby!) B) continue to write and better my musical talents C) GIG GIG GIG and hopefully gig D) and travel the world… maybe with a little or a lot of part C)
