M.R.James wrote some of the most memorable ghost stories in the English Language, many of which were adapted for Television in the 1970s starring Michael Horden.

They are more difficult to adapt for Radio because horrible things usually happen to the main character while he is alone. This is necessarily, then, a rather free adaptation but we hope the author, who died in 1936, will not disapprove… Because if he does, he could well come back and do horrible things to us…. One at a time.. While we're alone.
