Hello Diva Fans… The latest episode of the Diva Report is coming to you live from New York!   I’ve got three hot stories and a first-look preview of a play you won’t want to miss.

I started this episode in the heart of Times Square and finished at the trendy and luxurious Gramercy Park Hotel.   Enjoy!

 

First this from the New York Post: Al Roker’s Courthouse Twit Caper

 

NOW THAT EVERY CELEBRITY WITH TWO THUMBS IS TWITTING… it makes sense that the today show would try to get in on the action. But When Al Roker decided to turn jury duty into a twit-fest, I think they went a bit too far.

 

BIG AL DID THE RIGHT THING BY GOING TO JURY DUTY – but TWITTERING FROM INSIDE THE COURT, and with photos? I DON’T THINK SO.....One of Al’s photos showed fellow potential jurors from the back, while in another, apotential juror’s face could be seen.   The pics hit the press causing an instant internet scandal, and I have them right here for you.

 

Al admitted he made a mistake, and was eventually received some praise for sharing his civic adventure.   He was NOT picked to serve.  

 

Now taking twitter to the next level, we have Kimora Lee twitting while giving birth!

Here are the actual twits from Kimora… PAINFUL CONTRACTIONS THE FOLLOWING.... “It¹s time!! No turning back! At hospital in labor right now… Having contractions now! Ooo- wee! It¹s like WHOA!”

 

Happy ending though… CONGRATS TO KIMORA LEE SIMONS AND DJIMON Hansoo on the birth of THEIR NEW BABY BOY.   A first for the couple, but NOT for twitter…

 

Kimora Lee takes second place to R&BNEO-SOUL SINGER –ERIKA BADU and HUSBAND JAY ELECTRONICA’s twitcast of the birth of their baby girl, live from their own home!

The Obama’s hit Broadway

 

(Obama made good on a campaign promise to his most important supporter yesterday.)

 

THE PRESIDENT AND MICHELE OBAMA SNUCK INTO NEW YORK SO THAT THE POPULAR PREZ COULD ESCORT THE FIRST LADY TO SEE A PLAY ON BROADWAY. FIRST IT WAS DINNER AT THE BLUE HILL restaurant,  

 

Then the Obama’s motorcade zoomed right up Broadway (right past the Diva, BTW) and took the couple to see August Wilson's play "Joe Turner's Come and Gone" at the Belasco Theatre. The actors were told at the last second that the Prez would be in attendance, AND Lucky theatre-goers were able to sit side-by-side with the first couple and enjoy the show.  

 

But The trip was not without controversy as Republicans were quick to slam the enchanted couple for having their beautiful evening out at the taxpayer’s expense.

 

"I am taking my wife to New York City because I promised her during the campaign that I would take her to a Broadway show after it was all finished," the president said in a statement an aide read to the press.”

The Diva’s Off-Broadway Sneak Peak -   A network mogul, his aspiring mistress and a deranged roommate with a murderous obsession for reality television

 

The Obama’s visit was exciting but the highlight of the Diva’s New York weekend was a preview visit to one of the best plays in town… and its Off-Broadway.   I am talking about Our House, now playing at the Playwright’s Horizon Theatre in Manhattan.

 

Thanks to my friend and former CEO of the Sundance Channel, Larry Aidem, we were taken to a special performance of the show.   It grabbed us from the start with brilliant performances by the entire cast.

 

The show is a comical satire… a reflection of our times… taking a humorous look at the world through the lens of reality tv.   It features a network mogul, his aspiring mistress and a deranged roommate with a murderous obsession for reality television. Even this play is not without a little controversy as insiders suggest that the story may be inspired by (the real world reality) of a current studio head.  

 

If you are in NY before June 21, see this play. Great acting, beautifully staged in a delightful theatre, Playwright’s Horizons, on 42 ^nd street in New York.
