Mar 15, 2009 Episode 26 Pt 1 Clayton Scrivener & Patrick Munger "Death of Print"

Clayton & Patrick are here to reminisce about our former employer the now-defunct indpendent newspaper the Event Newsweekly, which ceased publication in 2001 but never did get a 'proper burial.'

We reach heretofore unattainable levels of awkwardness, delving into my sex life, "hammer time" at the Event, and Patrick's brow that is straining to go 'uni.' Working in a former chicken coop with sketchy restaurant, hair salon & 'massage parlor' sounds like the stuff of sitcom. We also hit a record high of 25 viewers on http://www.ustream.tv/channel/the-awkward-hour

Clayton was the final Editor of the Event, and Patrick wrote for the paper, and their innovations like "Barfly" column and the "Best of Beaver" edition when they 'went rogue' were either brilliant ideas or brought about the death of the paper, depending if you ask them or the mag's former publisher.

We are recording at the raucous Captain Captain artists studios, where we find that painters drink even more than writers! We enjoy surprise visits from artists Trent Call & Sri Whipple.

You'll want to hang in till the end of the episode when Clayton & I bust out some raps about Chris Buttars!

Catch Patrick Munger's art show opening on Gallery Stroll March 20 at High Life Salon, 245 E Broadway.

This episode dedicated to one of the former Event editors, the late Chris Joslin.
