Dude, I think you're getting the "global warming" conspiracy backwards:

OK, you think it's just a way to separate you from your money and freedom - right? Well what if it's actually the other way around? The problem is real, but you think "the man" is above using it for his own reasons? No Adam, he's not. 9/11 has been used a forward some pretty shady stuff, but that was horribly real. So just because "the man" is using this for their own reasons, doesn't mean it isn't true.

Now if it is true, I'd also agree that a lot of the "fixes" won't do jack, they are either stupid, or simply designed to separate people from their money. Again the incandescent bulb thing, is producing replacements that use mercury a good idea? Hell no! I know, like you, that no matter what you're supposed to do many of them will end up in land fields. But even this, doesn't mean it isn't true.

Now is it true? Well we have put a lot of chemicals into the atmosphere that have the potential to damage the ozone layer (now, is it just me that thinks that stuff that potentially affects the earth's ability to support life isn't a particularly great idea?) We've also put a lot of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, that does reflect heat that normally is radiated out into space. Is that a great idea?

So even if the science isn't exactly proven, the downside of this being true is pretty huge. Now does that mean I should just accept everything buy a Prius, energy saving doodahs and become vegan? Oh I hope not. If I can't have a bacon sandwich then what the hell are we saving the planet for? But considering energy use might not be a bad idea, remembering to include ALL OF IT, including that used in manufacture (sorry Prius), really it should save you money. Keep that doodah a little longer, switch stuff off when you're not using it, and reuse. It need not mean giving power to "the man". This isn't just green, but only sensible (and my grandma would have called it "thrifty") and even if the earth isn't in danger (personally I think it is) then will it really hurt me?

However Leo, I'm still gonna listen to Adam, and Cali.

With all the podcasts I listen to I can't believe I missed this gem. I don't know if they are all as good as this one (821) but I am definitely going to subscribe. Wow. Laporte is quite the fake. Oh so (sometimes sickeningly) sweet, pleasant and deferential when in front of a wide audience, but oh so smug (and Left, of course) when in his natural state.

Adam, you are a brave guy to air his comments, and even more brave to go against the grain on this global warming stuff.

Question: Have you ever noticed that global warming doom is always just over the horizon, close enough to be frightening, but far enough that folks will forget the horrific prdictions when the don't come true? Also, have you ever noticed how the cure to GW coordinates perfectly with the Left's general agenda. Quite a coincidence,...hmmm.

Of course, the whole issue wouldn't be so contentious if the advicates of human caused GW wern't pushing to reorganize the enitre friggin world economy! The burden of proof ought to be much higher.
