Indeed welcome to SS episode 12 for the 26th April 2008 –

AND NOW FOR A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Now you may have heard, you may have noticed the URL change or may, or unfortunately your attention may have been drawn by temporary download problems, to the changes at our hosting company Podshow is now called Mevio - Mike Echo Victor India Oscar. This change is filtering through the Podshow properties and the UK is still at Btpodshow.com with redirects to Mevio.Com as required. So you'll be seeing the Mevio moniker more and more.

Adam Curry tells us that the change due to hostility to the POD word by advertisers, who of course, are the essential ingredient in no consumer cost hosting and show delivery. Personally I'm sad that this hostility exists, and I don't know what's at its core or even if there is a core, but we work in this world and have have is work for us, so Mevio it is to be.

Now back to the show.

MUSIC:

BACKGROUND

Al Phlipp and The Woo Team Get Back to the Dream

Podsafe Music Network - Al Phlipp and The Woo Team

Winding up on the 'Falling' special this time we have two tracks that are sooo different, different genre, different beat, different volume, but at the same time they have elements in common. Its been fun to compare and contrast these tracks and the discovery process was interesting as well. The first track is Folk Rock and the second is Rock Rock, The first came from following the Falling Keyword triggered by the film 'Once' winning an Oscar, the second came from listener feedback from the last show which took a listen to Rock'ing Falling tracks . We'll come to the other links between these two after I play the first “The Feeling of Falling” by Honest-John Oct-17-2006

Podsafe Music Network - Honest John

Folky selection bit on loop to link

From one former English colony to another :-)

Canada is a brew pot for artists and many great bands and musicians on the PMN hail from there and after the last SS I had a msg from Steve Moore of Canadian rock band Inner Surge drawing my attention to their new CD "An Offering" with tracks named like "Crossing the Line", "Maggots & Liars" & "Halliburton Piggies"

I checked them out at http://music.podshow.com and the links to their website and MySpace pages.

They bio themselves as “Inner Surge is a an aggressive, thought-provoking band from Canada. Crafting their music to reward music listeners who demand more than the watered down offerings of the modern music industry, Inner Surge has been described as "the sound of the future" by Reviewer Magazine. With an eclectic approach, the band fuses metal, rock, punk, hardcore and progressive influences. As opposed to conforming to the 'meathead' mentality of heavy music today, Inner Surge is focused on breaking those stereotypes down, and pushing boundaries, both lyrically and musically.“

Inner Surge's newest album, "An Offering" is their most controversial and thought provoking thus far. Taking on controversial topics, the band is determined to be heard. "An Offering" was released via Cyclone Records and Overthrow Promotions January 26, 2008.

Bio:
The band Inner Surge was formed in 2001 by Steve Moore Inner Surge is an intense, politically charged rock/metal band from Calgary, Canada featured in book "New Wave of American Heavy Metal" and the "Cabras" movie soundtrack. The music is spreading thanks to the Podsafe network Podcasters. For interviews on your shows contact innersurge@hotmail.com

On the Special Selection show we focus on the music, comparing & contrasting, it is great that bands see so much value in podsafe music and podcasting shows such as this. Inner Surge, with a U, have uploaded most tracks from the new album and I have listened though a selection.

This one caught my ear. The part I am looping comes from the track called “Interahamwe” and to me it bridges the Folk Rock genre Honest John and “Al Phlipp and The Woo Team” to the Metal of Inner Surge. Such an unlikely bridge caught me by surprise.

So listen to the Rocking Metal sound of Inner Surge and Interahamwe

And finally I am pleased to remind those listeners hearing this in April of Scarlet Blondes next release.

Thanks for listening, don't forget you can find the links to all the tracks and websites mentioned in the shownotes at http://specialslection.mevio.com. Listen to more great track and video at PS and get in touch via the same place.

Till we have selected the Next SS Cheers from the SS Show
