It has been a while since I have hung out on podshow plus.  I am digging the changes.  The trinity discussion of late has been a great reminder to check back in. If anyone is dropping by and wants to talk green, drop me a line.  I would really like to see some more action at green.podshow.com.  For an idea of what I am interested check out a couple of my other projects. my podcast, Sounds Sustainable at besustainable.com/weblog. I am also a contributor to an  environmental radio show in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  If your not in toronto, lucky for you I also manage the show blog and podcast feed, you can find it here  Greenmajority.ca

Are you a green scruncher/folder?

I have been a long. long, long time listener of the DSC and I have to say I have been a fan of nearly everything that it offers up on an almost daily basis.

I am pleased for example to see the recent decline in second life commentary... can't be bothered with another life, too much to get done in first life and not enough time.

I have been hoping  as well that the scruncher/folder theme of late would meet a similar descent from popularity.  This however doesn't seem to be the case so another course of action needs to be taken.

I do beleive that there is great potential in the power of podcasting to rally people around a great concept/idea and to inspire action.   To that end I am hoping to use this  new medium to spread a message about a living more environmentally sensible lifestyle.  To you can follow along with this effort here at wiseman.podshow.com, at green.podshow.com or  my own site www.besustainable.com

So how do I reconcile my love for the DSC and my dislike of the folder/scruncher commentary?

Simple I offer a challenge to the DSC listeners to make sure that the scrunching and/or folding is not contributing to the destruction of ancient forests (or old growth if you prefer the term).

There are a variety of source of info available on the topic

  1. kleercut.net

  2. NDRC

  3. Forest Friendly 500

So next time you are sitting around on the can, preaparing you folded tickets or scrunched up wad take a minute to consider where that tissue came from

Check out green.podshow.com for the audio submission I am producing for the DSC that will accompany this little campaign

Thank you golden ticket for an early look around powshow +  So far things seem pretty sweet although I have spotted a couple of buggy things (must find out how to submit bug?)  While I am at it I have a couple of feature ideas in mind.  The first is one may have arisen do to the functioning of my news reader (bloglines) but either way it should have worked.  I searched a keyword I am interested in; "environment".  No search results were found but the system still genreated an RSS feed for the tag.  I then tried to slap that feed into my news reader so I would know the second someone tagged something "environment"  Whether or not the issue is with bloglines could there not be a simple solution so I don't have to bug them about it?  How about automagically generating an initial post into the feed so that bloglines thinks there is a feed there? All for now, I am going to go check it again for good measure...
