You can kill your cable TV!

I Know this isn't news anymore to some people. But cable TV is obsolete. Going to the movie theater is obsolete. This isn't possible with dial-up, and besides cable internet is cheaper anyway.

You don't need cable TV. You don't need to press record when you can't be home to see your favorite program. You can even watch this weekends Blockbuster 6:00 in the morning and watch it over and over until you've memorized every line without paying a single red cent. Sorry, now you've got to make your own popcorn.

But it takes a little effort in order to make your channel surfing couch potato friendly. So you've got your channel sites collected in your favorites for easy access. But the titles given by the sites are mostly either Watch Your Favorite Blockbuster Movies and TV Shows Online for Free at...... or The Home of..... Channel where you can play games and find the latest info about your favorite show. You have to rename them so that you don't confuse TNT with TLC, The History Channel, or TBS. I would also recommend that you group your chanels together by numbering them I know this can be a bit of a pain in the ass, but it makes it easier to scroll through your channels besides the cable companies do it too grouping the news channels together, while seperately grouping movie channels somewhere else on the dial.

A word of warning though if you have young kids you may want to keep your cable, As some multichannel sites have easy access to adult content. The world has changed so that all these things are at our fingertips for free and what we are really paying for are the byproducts of the differrent formats. In the theater oyu have the big screen and large audience experience. With cable TV you are paying for more live content and

Wookies, Luchadores and more

My first entry is going to look a lot like a review of books and shows. I don't know if this will be a trend yet or not.

I recently saw ABC Family's PRINCESS, which I could only recommend to 4-11 year old girls. But oddly enough a white haired wookie makes a brief appearance. It's voice can be heard before you actually see it.

As for supernatural themed television shows the  toungue in cheek MIDDLE MAN has arrived in it's third episode with a plot line involving lucha libre wrestlers. I felt the same way when I saw luchadores in an episode of ANGEL. Even our Lord and savior teams up with a luchadore against lesbian vampires in the film JESUS CHRIST VAMPIRE HUNTER. It even includes a drunken beatnik STAR WARS inspired song.

Currently I am reading "The Service of the Sword" in David Weber's Honorverse anthology of the same name. It gets down to the action surrounding it's main characters faster than the novels. It surrounds the character of Abigail Hearns a strong female character coming into her own while being a cultural pioneer from her homeworld. I have always enjoyed the novels and can say that the payoffs at the end are usually worth slogging through the slow political buildups and repetitive explanations of technology.
