Plodding, projecting, predicting

Today, on this the new moon our Chinese brethren have stamped as the year of the Earth Ox, I am taking the posture of this stalwart, reliable, dedicated bovine in relation to global events over the last seven days.

On the weekend of the 17th I took an intensive workshop in Jungian Dream Analysis which entailed viewing 10 hours of interviews with people from all walks of life sharing their dreams, interspersed with Marie Von Franz's interpretation of these messages from our subconscious selves. She was a student of C.G. Jung's in Switzerland, and interpreted no less than 65,000 dreams in her career as a psychoanalyst.

A common thread in these various retellings was the prevalence of projections onto partners/friends, of the underdeveloped anima/animus we all carry in our individual personality constellations, thereby giving them a voice by which we mirror to ourselves that which needs attention in our own psyches.

It was also the first anniversary of Heath Ledger's death on January 22nd - it is my humble opinion that he is winning posthumous accolades for his portrayal of the "joker" largely because he wasn't acting. I believe he completely embraced this archetypal chaotic energy and it won over his very soul, consuming him in the undertow.

This is the biggest danger we all face in our personal journeys: refusing to confront our shadow sides with steadfast resolve, understanding that this is as much a part of who we are as those aspects which society deems acceptable. In August I shot a video tribute to Heath by portraying this "dark energy" from the feminine perspective : the Kali that is woman devouring her young and annihilating all in her path. It was a staggeringly powerful personal release for me being able to accept this without fear or standing in judgement.

When celebrities take on the role of any pure archetype eg. Marilyn Monroe/Brittney Spears as the Aphrodite embodiment of sensual love, there is a high risk of losing the self in the process. There is also another risk that I am witnessing as a result of the American pesidential inauguration whic has been labelled Obama mania. This smacks to me of projection on a LARGE scale. An entire collective is pegging their personal hopes of a better future on one man.

This man happens to have been groomed for this position by some incredibly powerful people who control the pursestrings of a banking cartel that is not about to lie down and suddenly grow a conscience, and relinquish their insatiable desire to control the global economy.

The chaotic forces of entropy are dissolving the foundations to our belief systems, and we are all in the throes of a transition that will reverberate across this planet for years to come. It is my hope that this current euphoria over rhetoric will be justified by real, solid actions which will substantiate the claim that hope is enough to build a better future for us all, and that we will NOT reliquish any additional civil rights based on false promises made by false prophets thanks to a messianic complex the population at large is so willing to reliquish their personal power to follow.

Where does spirituality fall into all this turmoil and instability? Well, I concur with Wes Nisker when he said this in an interview on nitelite.typepad.com:

"Chuang Tzu said he was offered a senior government post once, and he answered: “Have you seen that gold-plated turtle shell the Emperor uses for a footrest? Once it was a simple turtle dragging its ass in the mud. Now it sits at the foot of the Throne, encrusted with jewels.

“Go away! Let me drag my ass in the mud!”

We each have different ways of contributing to the Great Work. The first and most important task is to be mindful."

Created a painting on birch bark i bathed in a creek as a parting gift for the Mayan Daykeeper Tata Victor . He travels back to Chile and the Andes mountains on Saturday. My hope is that the vision I painted on the bark using frankincense and myrrh helps to manifest as a holistic healing centre at La Serena.

Interview with this amazing healer will be posted at godbox cafe in October for Thanksgiving.

My spiritual journey to date

I was a pagan before I ever knew it: my early years were spent scrambling up the trunks of trees, and cradled in the safety of their branches, I'd gaze down at the folk going about their business, mystified by their complete disregard for the natural wonders surrounding them.

So profound was my connection to the elements, plants, and animals that i felt no compulsion to conform to societal norms or fit in to any organized group that put consumerism and material possession above the value of walking through a glade when the morning sun sparkled through the leaves, and the birds offered up a symphony of sound, celebrating new life and heralding another cycle of awakening.

Then the pressures of earning a living and contributing to the family's welfare became a priority, and i had to find a way to juggle an existence which still held in highest regard this planet's abundant offerings, yet maintained the responsibility of serving the urban community in which i dwell with my husband and child to this day.

My spiritual journey took me on many paths including shamanic studies with the aboriginal elders nearby, here in Southwestern Ontario. I resonanted with these remarkable people as they demonstrated a reverence for Nature, the spirits of our ancestors , and the knowledge that preparing for seven generations in the future was the wisest way to live one's life.

For them the circle is unbroken, but i'm afraid to say, that is why they are still brutalized and bullied into submission , as their protests against uranium mining fall on deaf ears in our government even as we speak.

I am not Aboriginal by birth, in fact my roots go back to France and Austria - and strangely enough I cannot listen to Celtic music without the deepest sense of longing and incredible melancholy, as though I once knew of a magnificent place beyond the veils of this existence, where that music played, and echoing notes of that time still penetrate me to the core.

How does one reconcile this calling, from another time and place that the soul is connected to, surely as a child in the womb draws sustenance from the chord to its mother, with the world we live in today where the Mother is virtually forgotten?

The pagan way is my way of finding that place, and only by giving back what was offered to me as a child by the trees, animals, and the Earth herself, can I say I am walking my talk, and serving as a model for the generations to come, to ensure that this planet and all who draw on her for life will be able to do so in harmony and peace.

Wesak Full Moon

There is a valley, lying at a rather high altitude in the foothills of the Himalayan-Tibet ranges. It is surrounded by high mountains on all sides except towards the northeast, where there is a narrow opening in the mountain ranges. The valley is bottle-shaped in contour, with the neck of the bottle to the northeast, and it widens very considerably towards the south. Up towards the northern end, close to the neck of the bottle, there a huge flat rock. There are no trees or shrubs in the valley, which is covered with a kind of coarse grass.

Approaching the time of the full moon of Taurus, pilgrims from the surrounding districts begin to gather. The holy men and the lamas find their way into the valley and fill the southern and the middle parts, leaving the northeastern end relatively free. There, so the legend runs, gathers a group of those great Beings Who are the Custodians on Earth of God's Plan for our planet and for humanity.

This group of knowers of divinity are the main participants in The Wesak Festival. They arrange Themselves in the northeastern end of the valley, in concentric circles, and prepare for a great act of service. In front of the rock, looking towards the northeast, stand Those Beings Who are called by Their disciples The Three Great Lords. These are The Christ, Who stands in the center; the Lord of living forms, The Manu, Who stands at His right; and The Lord of Civilization, who stands to His left. These three face the rock upon which rests a great crystal bowl, full of water.

Behind the grouped Masters, adepts, initiates and senior workers under God's Plan are to be found the world disciples and aspirants in their various grades and groups (either "in the body" or "out of the body"), who at this time constitute the New Group of World Servers. Those present in their physical bodies have found their way there by ordinary means. Others are present in their spiritual bodies, and in the dream state. The "dream," which they later relate, has been uniformly registered by people throughout the world, and bears the testimony to the recollection of an inner spiritual happening.
