I'm so stoked. I know I've been in a bit of a cultural bubble for a couple of months thanks to lots of busy life stuff, but I just got the mailing list notice from Queens of the Stone Age about an upcoming full-length called Era Vulgaris. Yeeeee!
I saw a cool behind-the-scenes clip on YouTube here:

Low paid and loving it!

Well, I hope I'm loving it... I start a new job this week — very part-time — but it's exactly what I wanted. It doesn't pay much but is exactly what I wanted to do, plus, it offers me benefit far beyond having a little paycheck and a National Insurance number. I wish I could go into it more, but I don't blog about jobs or workplaces because I'm not about to coax a doocing into my life. Suffice it to say that I wanted the job, I got the job, and I couldn't be happier. I'll also still be available for freelance geek stuff too. Win-win situation, eh?

Go me! :)

Finally, I'm a podcaster

Finally, I'm a podcaster. I actually never thought I'd want to be a podcaster but now I find that after some very comfortable time on the microphone with Neil that I CAN do it, have done it, and will keep doing it. Weird.
Even weirder yet, I am thinking about new show ideas— specifically, how I can incorporate my writing into a podcast. This could be quite cool and I'm working out the ideas in my head. Watch this space...

It's worse than that, he's dead Jim.

The Britcaster Forums are nearly no more. The final posting day is to be 15 December 2006. We will continue the Britcaster feed aggregator, but not the forums. The forums brought a lot of people together and sparked several business partnerships, but the project is unsustainable in its present form. Neil and I have watched what began as a really useful community site spiral into pointless bickering, abusive language, and childish attacks at the moderators. It's time to pull the plug and I honestly can say that I am relieved. I used to love the forums but over the last six months or so they've turned into an increasingly sour place that started to suck dry our patience, time, and sanity. It's time for someone new to become the place where the UK podcasters hang out. We've done our bit and are passing the torch. Good luck to whomever steps up to the challenge. Running a forums site is a thankless, bitch of a job that often serves up equal parts sweet and sour. Now, to take advantage of the many hours per week saved in forums management and spam clearing! Woo-hoo! Oh- and I'm even going to start a little podcasting... :)
