9/11 some thought

Today is 9/11. I am sad that life in America will never feel as safe as it did the day before the towers went down. And sad for the young kids who will never know how it felt before 9/11.

The World Trade Center was a place I visited so many times. The building of it started in 1966, the North Tower opened in December 1970, and the South Tower in January 1972; they officially opened in April 1973, so it kind of started when I did!

We had many clues that bad things could happen, i.e. 1993 WTC bombing, 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, and later the USS Cole bombing. Let's just remember that it was the United States of America and the American way of life that were attacked, and lets win by not losing what we have.

I remember driving to school on the most magnificent day I had ever seen. As I drove into the school parking lot near Valley Forge, I was thinking what a wonderful day it was, and realizing the traffic and construction on 202 did not even bother me! What a day!

Then the news came. Something had happened at The Twin Towers . . . . Oh I love New York City. It is a city I have heard about in stories from my father (a city that embraced my father)and my mother and fathers trips to the city during the 60's and 70's. Knowing that it is the home of the Estonian House, the shows, the people, the food, the music! The road trips, St. Patrick's Day Parades, New Year's, Earth Day, Fashion, Wall Street! The Life! The peaple again!

I drove up later that week to Jersey City, looked across the river over where the towers used to be, and felt helpless! I could see the smoke still rising, and some piles of rubble. But today, New Yorkers are still there, we are still here, and we move on.
You can hear a slight  edited verson of this on Jaan's world!

(one other time the just went away.) But with podshow I just went and got them resubsribed again with out looking all over the place and it was a fantastic back up. Check out my old shows!
