Hey it's been a hoot testing the range of software out there for streaming and broadcasting over the internet. I've found in my view "The Best" products for both PC and Mac for live DJing into Second Life.

I've also been busy making virtual replicas of popular DJ equipment for budding SL DJ's to use at gigs in Second Life. Search for "Cybster" in "Places" in SL to find my Store.

Here's your first tip...

To DJ in SL there are 3 main software applications your computer will have to run simultaneously. Now, I have tried this on a MacBook Pro and a P4 3.0Ghz PC and both really struggle with it. I highly recommend you use two computers as a minimum. Use one computer for running the Second Life software and the other for DJing.

Here's your second tip...

Your Second Life client needs about 400kbps of bandwidth for the Music Control to work and for your Avatar to not look like he's on drugs. Your streaming software will need about 100kbps bandwidth. Therefore, you will really need a 1500kbps ADSL internet connection or cable to make this work without choking. Also, if your internet plan has a quota... make sure your not going to max it out. As a moderate internet user who watches and listens to a good dose of video audio podcasts and spends about 10 hours a week in SL, I use up most of 25GB of downloads per month. Upgrade your plan now if you need to.
