I spend a lot of my time driving around the farmland near Wasco Ca. Making late night or early morning deliveries depending on when I get to load the truck. Most of the valley floor is unremarkable most of the time especially in the dark. One of the few joys in this work is the sunrise. I can watch it as I drive back to Bakersfield especially in the summer months. Beautiful colors in the sky changing every few minutes. Breckenridge, Greenhorn, Bear Mountains make a sharp line to the east and Walker Pass a little to the south. Clouds add drama and different colors. This time of year is the best. The almonds are blooming, acres and acres of trees covered with little white flowers. What a nice smell (a great contrast to the fertilizer plant in the middle of Wasco). Soon they will begin to fall and cover the ground like a blanket of snow. Other plants will start to bloom soon. Then the rose bushes, 5 million roses they say. Many many colors. For a while there will be corn 10 feet high.
