Here Comes The Plunge

Alright, the weather’s definately changing now! Right now it’s 9 degrees outside, and it’s been overcast for the past while. Winter’s just about here! Hopefully this year though, we’ll have something more than about a week of snow. It’d be nice to see record snowfalls every day… But that hasn’t happened since the seventies.
School is very boring… All of my classes are easy, and there’s nothing really to do here at school, it just feels like a big waste of time. Someone help! On top of that, I’m still trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. Should I get a job in a field that is repetitive, and accomplishes nothing for the world other than some hot-shot’s network connectivity? Or should I sacrifice a bigger paycheque by getting a job with a non-profit that actually helps to make the world a better place? It’s a tough decision, especially with my dreams of travelling the world…
I’d also like to pay my respects to a good friend, who sadly took his life away two sundays ago. He pretty much went through it all with me: middle school, scouts, and high school. He was a friendly and helpful person, never offended anyone, and seemed to be very content with himself. Unfortunately, for reasons no-one will ever discover, my friend Paul decided to leave us. May you rest in peace, and my thoughts are with you and your family.

My First Snow Day

Today was my first snow day of my life :). It's unbelievable the amount of snow that feel yesterday and last night, here's some pictures, but they sure don't do justice. We pretty much can't get out of our house.

God Be With You: James Kim

Although I did not know him personally, James Kim was a member of a television network that brought great content to the United States and Canada. He recently became a member of CNET and was a senior editor and tech podcaster, someone with who many of us can relate to.
While travelling through Oregon on his way back from Thanksgiving Festivities with family and friends, Kim's family missed an exit, and ended up driving on back-roads that are not typically plowed in the winter time. Their car, having left the road, was of no more use to them, and Kim found his family in a dire situation. After waiting nearly a week for anyone to discover them, Kim set out, leaving his family with the car and their provisions, looking for any sign of help in the distance.
We heard recently that Kim's family was found in relatively good condition not far from their car. However, just today rescuers discovered the lifeless body of James about a half-mile from where his family was found. It's quite apparent that Kim was not giving up, determined to save his family by any means, and in the process he was taken by the elements. Kim survived a surprisingly long time given the temperature, and what little provisions he had on him. Many people involved in the Technology Community had their prayers out for James, mine included. But it is now with great sadness that I pay tribute to an influential of the Online Tech and Podcasting community. And for James' family, my prayers are with you in finding peace after this terrible tragedy.

It's Snowing

Although it has already snowed once this year, I felt it necessary to make a post documenting the most recent (yet brief) snowfall in this season. We usually are pretty deep in snow at this point in the year, but this year we've had some pretty warm days in the late fall, early winter. Take a look at this picture below, it's my backyard, and you can only see a few spots of snow, the result of today's precipitation.

Also today, since it's the beginning of December, my family decided to erect the old Christmas Tree. But we got some new lights for it (and the outside of our house), because these new bulbs are LED, and they consume less power. There expensive though, not sure if they pay off or not, but they're supposed to last for a long time. Here's a picture of the tree from my front hall...

The picture isn't that bright, but hopefully you can see that it's a fairly large tree. You might be expecting me to go out to a treefarm to chop down a tree, but we stopped doing that when we got the new hard-wood floors in the house :(, I miss those days.
Instead, now we've got this artificial tree that assembles in about an hour or two, after fluffing up each branch and hooking it into the appropriate slot on the trunk of the tree.
Gah, I just remembered I have to get some Law assignment done for tomorrow, maybe I'll go finish that now so that I can relax for the rest of the day. Last night's sleep is really getting to me, hopefully it doesn't happen again tonight or I might have to stay home tomorrow. It's a really strange sickness, I have no aches except in the left side of my chest, and a mild headache all day long accompanied by a throat that burns as the result of any extended period of speech or physical exercise.
Oh well, All I can do is hope for the best and continue on as though nothing bad is happening, lol j/k

See you tomorrow!
